F-tuba
Jens Björn-Larsen (formerly Copenhagen Radio Philharmonic, now European Chamber Orchestra and tuba professor in Hanover) celebrated all his great successes and awards on his B&S 3100W F-tuba, and he could not find any comparable instrument.
Until he joined the development team at B&S: the basic concept remained the same, however, they changed the proportions within the body, mounted all tuning slides free of this and built a completely different leadpipe, in which the 1st valve sits.
The original goal of Jens Björn-Larsen, for it to be as good as the original, was met and exceeded by B&S. The new development was simply better, responded more easily, was better tunable, and it stays true to the typical B&S F-tuba sound, which does not try to be a C-tuba sound.
