Excellent mic
Reviewing the mic from the PoV of UltraStar party game:
Starting from XLR connector, the frame is metal and doesn't flex, you can't insert cord in wrong orientation even with force. The XLR lock clip is solid, it won't break on cord pull. The frame has a metal sleeve inside for the XLR connector, and apparently a frame screw and even some glue holding it in place, you can't press it in even with force.
No unnecessary on-off switch.
Metal grill seems durable, has some foam inside, and receives well. The mic output is not being amplified so I can't comment on performance. But it works well for the karaoke game.
In hindsight, given the tiny price difference with XM8500, I would've probably gotten that instead even if it is a bit more expensive, as it seems to be optimal price point wrt cost vs durability -- unless one needs to splurge on the bomb-proof SM58s. That being said, I will update the review over time to provide an estimate on how long it lasts and which ones turned out ideal for the use case.
