ADJ RFC Controller

I purchased two American DJ Ultra bar 12 light effects from Thomann and bought this remote control at the same time to control them. I already have another version of the ADJ remote and it is very different to this one with coloured buttons and icons. This remote only has short text descriptions and no coloured buttons so you have to spend some time reading the manual and learning how to use it properly. The unit itself is solid and feels good quality, and the button motion is a nice feel too. It comes with a battery fitted so just pull out the plastic battery activator and you are good to go.
The distance to operate the light sensor is about 6 metre but as i only use it close up so I don't activate all the lights it suits me fine. The lights are about three metres high so this saves me having to climb on a chair.
So far so good with operating my lights and other ADJ lights also.

This is a much better remote control than the old infra-red versions. However, some of the newer ADJ LED cans have the unfortunate habit of ignoring remote commands after a few minutes of inactivity. This is by design and set as default - but fortunately you can disable it via the menu system on each lamp.

One of these remotes isn't going to make your DMX controller redundant because it sends the same message to all RF compatible cans that are listening, so they all get the same command. However - if one of the cans misses a command then it will remain out of step with the others because the remote only sends mode commands then up/down commands. This could be a pain if the cans are up on a gantry. So get yourself a decent DMX controller and save this for little jobs where this doesn't matter.

I liked the ir controller that came with the megabar 50s and mega tripars but I love the rfc controller.

It may be the smallest piece of equipment I own but now one of the most essential.

I dj. At the moment I use it for small functions to control a pair of ultra hexs I attach to the flying points on top of my yamaha dxr 10s. A simple set-up but a lot of various effects can be achieved using the ADJ RFC contoller. Static colour, Sound active, fades and strobe all easy thanks to thr rfc.

My only flaw is I feel it could be better built and I would be happy to an extra 5-10 euros for a more robust feeling unit.

Although the quality of this remote is not exactly bombproof, it is one of the handiest add on bits I own. I can now control my jelly par profile system from across the room. The range is great. I have never had problems being too far from it. The Control it gives you with the light unit is also great. It is much easier to use than the actual four button display on the light itself. My only concern is that it feels a bit flimsy and I always have to be careful nothing hits it or that it does not drop. I keep it in a padded case with a few other delicate things like wireless mics, etc. Very recommended little gadget.
