Kali Audio LP-UNF

My background: Musician and 12 years of experience sound engineer.

This is my first Kali audio product. Listening environment is a small/medium appartment, no sound treatment. First things I noticed are the imaging and clarity, sound is very precise. Bass is surprisingly deep for such a small driver, it was a bit too much out of the box but after setting up the boundary EQ everything sounds very natural.

I haven't tested the rca, usb and bluetooth connections so can't comment on that, just using the balanced inputs and the DAC of my RME babyface pro. USB and bluetooth are nice to have but I don't really care about or need them. Also I haven't pushed them at high volume so can't comment on distorsion/harshness.

No audio jobs at the moment to mix on these but just listening to my reference tracks on these is pure pleasure.

I struggle to find something bad to say about these. I definitely recommend them for someone on the move or who needs small speakers but big sound.

Meine Anwendung: In einem fast quadratischen 9 m2 Raum, auf einem Zaor Miza M Studiotisch, angeschlossen symmetrisch an ein Korg Grandstage und über USB-C an einen PC.

Meine Erfahrung mit Studio-Sound ist überschaubar, aber ich finde den Klang sowohl für das Piano also auch für Musik vom Rechner klar, in diesem Raum völlig ausreichend druckvoll und gut lokalisierbar. Leider habe ich eine starke Resonanz bei etwa 130 Hz. Das laste ich jetzt aber nicht den Lautsprechern an, sondern muss wohl noch an der Aufstellung bzw. Raumakustik arbeiten.

Die Einstellungen mit DIP-Schaltern zu Aufstellarten Tiefen-/Höhen-EQ sind nett und wirkungsvoll, hier sollte man statt der Anleitung zu folgen aber vielleicht einfach nach dem eigenen Gusto wählen.

Ich habe mir die Lautsprecher vor Allem wegen ihrer Anschlussmöglichkeiten ausgesucht. Hier sei gesagt, dass auch Bluetooth einwandfrei funktioniert. Was mir fehlt oder ich vielleicht noch nicht verstanden habe, ist eine Möglichkeit, zwischen den Inputs umzuschalten (in meinem Fall zwischen XLR, USB und Bluetooth). Ich verstehe, dass nicht mehrere Inputs parallel wiedergegeben werden können, aber für das XLR-Signal musste ich z.B. das USB-Kabel abziehen. Das ist leider etwas umständlich, ich hätte dafür gerne einen Schalter gehabt. Es gab online auch keinen Hinweis darauf, erst in der Verpackung sieht man auf der Schnellanleitung entsprechend zu interpretierende Symbole. Vielleicht kann hier auch ein Firmware-Update noch nachhelfen.

Je suis content de mon acquisition.
La qualité de fabrication est bonne. C'est bien emballé.
Le son est excellent et bien défini, les basses sont biens présentes malgres la taille réduite des enceintes.
L'installation et le réglage sont assez simple avec le système de switch.
La carte son est parfaitement reconnu par Windows 11.
Le passage d'une source à une autre est un peu galère. Il faut débrancher l'USB pour utiliser l'entrée mini jack. Pareil avec l'USB. Mais une fois en place sur le bureau, c'est plus un problème.
La câble reliant les deux enceintes ne tiens pas bien en place. Et comme les réglages sont derrière l'enceinte principale, il faut bien vérifier qu'il est toujours en place. Un système avec un clic de verrouillage aurait été bien.
