Göldo ASNUT Slide Saddle
Göldo ASNUT Slide Saddle
I have been getting into playing acoustic slide guitar recently and really want a proper resonator guitar when I get my playing up to scratch, in the mean time I'm using an old beater acoustic guitar until I improve, (and save some pennies for a National).
The guitar is a little Art & Lutherie cedar dreadnought that has a really low action, great little guitar but the low action makes it less than ideal for slide so I figured I'd try the Göldo ASNUT Slide Saddle as a it looked like a good idea and was considerably easier than fitting a new higher nut especially as this is only a stopgap and will eventually return to "campfire duty".
Unfortunately things didn't really work out, firstly the Göldo ASNUT Slide Saddle raises the string height way more than necessary, it's ridiculously high.
Secondly the Göldo ASNUT Slide Saddle string spacing is very wide, the E strings are off the fretboard completely.
Thirdly even with the string tension when the guitar is tuned the Göldo ASNUT Slide Saddle moves from side to side.
What seemed like a good idea sadly doesn't translate to a usable product.
It's overpriced for wha is a crudely bent and slotted piece of metal but that would be forgivable had it worked, unfortunately it doesn't so I hope Thomann will accept it as a return.
A disappointing product.

Good for fretwork!
I bought this to raise the strings - at pitch - off the fretboard and level the frets using an under string fret leveller. Worked a treat! Also works well for slide guitar, which is what it's meant to be used for...

great lap steel slide
Great lap steel slide with a real ergonomic feel & weight in the hand. Bends are easily performed with precision. Highly recommended.

Slide Nut
Its a standard size, and works well. If you have a narrower width of neck then this saddle is going to be too wide, its then possible to customise and make your own string spacing but cutting in your own notches, then it will work. For most electrics it will be too wide, I have customised a few of these to fit the guitars I have. Its good for an instant slide guitar set up - if you want a setup where you will not be holding down the strings and fretting them. The set up hight that the saddle gives is the same sort of hight that a lap steel Dobro type slide guitar has on it. Great fun.
