Not for everyone!
LJSO 27.01.2021
It took me two hours to adjust it when received. I had to play a bit, adjust, play and so forth. I suspect that I must keep on adjusting it for a while before I am satisfied. The main problem is that there is no instruction on how and what to adjust with reference to your body. Neither is there any indication of “the most ergonomically correct” position of the two leather pads.
At this point my conclusion is that this strap does not in any way give you the benefit of a real harness when playing a heavier saxophone. Still, it gives you more comfort than a traditional strap when playing alto and tenor with the added benefit of not having to change straps if you also play the soprano.
I will probably not recommend this strap if you intend to use it with a barytone or if you are in a marching band playing the tenor. Both situations demand more comfort than this strap offers.
I have yet to try it on stage, but I suspect that quick shifts between instruments will be a bit more demanding than using different straps/harnesses for each instrument.
On the positive side, this strap makes it easier to place the tenor and alto correctly when playing (than a harness would) - still freeing your neck from the gnawing sensation of a traditional strap and giving you the benefit of using the same strap for the soprano.

Fancy and nice....
Micahel Nielsen 14.01.2021
Got this back strap together with 2 other ones. This is by far the most expensive, good looking nice distribution of weight. Really high quality but somewhat difficult to adjust and being 185 cm high the height adjustment of the Sax position is at it's limit. Love it, but it's 3x as expensive as the cheapest I got doing the same job (looking better if you perform in stage :-) )

I'm still searching
Duvel R 27.11.2020
Before starting let me clarify two things: 1. This is the first time I write a review and 2. Nothing I say here is intended to validate or invalidate what has been said in other reviews.

POSITIVES: The materials appear to be of good quality and it appears solid and reliable, aesthetically pleasing as well. The locking mechanism even if awkward may work. Need more testing.

NEGATIVES: I have to say first that before I have used a “Cebulla”, “Just Joe’s” a “Jazzlab saXholder” and a Chinese contraption for which I paid £8 which I thought were trying to copy the Jazzlab but simplifying. The Chinese has been my favorite strap for about a year and I thought my search was over, then I accidentally found the "Balam" and thought "This is what the Chinese were copying!" It turns out that the Balam has non-contortable edges that the Chinese (of definitely inferior materials) does not have, the Balam is difficult and complicated to adjust (not like the Chinese). The Balam has these back adjustment hooks that I can feel on my back. The Balam has a hook to hold the saxophone that appears to be unusually small and you cannot simply “put”, it needs to be maneuvered and it is impossible to put without dragging with some force through the sax ring :(

Finally the locking mechanism, the biggest reason (excuse?) To let go of £80, is difficult to put on and almost impossible to take off with the saxophone hanging in the perfect spot!

In summary I would not recommend this strap, defenely not at this price poit anyway. One star for the concept and another for the materials and nothing else.

Super draagbeugel voor de zwaarder sax
Lesley P 08.01.2021
