L ls instrument!

deus ex machina, 29.01.2011
I bought the Thomann SL 5 ZUGTROMPET about a month ago and am so very satisfied!

Before my review brief comment on the other partly unsatisfactory reviews:
In these reviews, it is important to note that the Thomann SL 5 TRAINTRACKS are often not reported, but rather about the trumpet / soprano trumpet in general, which means that some of the scores are inferior because many musicians are not able to cope with this instrument The playing of a trumpet as a trumpeter as well as a trombonist must first learn. Negative aspects, due to lack of the musician's skills, do not really have anything to do with the Thomann SL 5 and the instrument's scores do not really get lost!

As trumpet player and winghornist I can say the following to the Thomann SL 5 TRAINTROMPETE:

Delivery:
Once you have got the trumpet, you can get started right away, that is, there is everything you need to play. Say: the suitcase (pure cool, already the extremely shoddy suitcase gives exactly the same casual impression, which one also from the instrument), then the mouthpiece (faultless), a cloth and even original white gloves!
Only the train should be started (see processing).

Speech, sound or sound:
For speech and sound I have ever given four stars. These two features are impeccable for this price class, but it is not a professional / high-end instrument, it is also clear.

The unique sound characteristics of the SL 5 are probably due to the special scale: it is neither the trumpet nor the flugelhorn, but most likely the trombone. It is actually a combination of all.
Thus, the bore has a diameter of 11.5 mm, which would be comparable to a cornet. Then, as with the trombone, the tube runs cylindrically (with the train not otherwise possible) and then flows into a rather strongly conical and relatively unstretched sound funnel, similar to the Flügelhorn.
The fall, however, has a rather small diameter.
From these factors, the sound, which has some different sound characteristics, can be derived, but only to a very small extent.
Thus the cylindrical course and the small fall effect the sharpness and brightness of a trumpet, the bore, and above all the more conical and low-pitched sound funnel, provide a softer and fuller sound.
The shape of the sound also has a positive effect on the sound, since there are no valves that allow the sound to be exhausted by the additional windings. The air column thus only runs through two wide curves.
All in all these factors of the SL 5 really give the round sound of a 1.45m long train trombone. Since, however, due to the rarity of this instrument, the sound of a trombone in a soprano position is not known to our ears, we naturally tend to equate it with the trumpet anyway.

Processing:
The workmanship is quite okay, although it is obvious that the instrument builder is not looking for perfection. When comparing two Thomann SL 5, I found the following: The upper end of the mouthpipe into which the mouthpiece is pushed does not give an exact circle, so that the mouthpiece is not enclosed 100% of the mouthpipe and can wiggle slightly (minimum). From this small deficit, however, there are no noticeable impairments when playing. Anyone who is skilled in crafting the craft could easily perfect the shape of the tube by finishing it.
The train flops with some grease and water impeccably up and down (Attention: if you take the hand from the train, always forget the lock ;-), the water flap also works perfectly.
The distance between the lower jaw and the funnel elbow when playing is, in my opinion, borderline (just fine). You should therefore use a long mouthpiece, which disappears as little as possible in the mouth tube. This is also included in the scope of supply! If the tension trumpet is also adjusted in such a way that an angle of approx. 135 degrees is produced between the bow and the horn, there is also a sufficient distance between the lower jaw and the sound cone, and the bow is not touched. This is certainly different with every musician, good trumpeters are so relaxed with the lips anyway on the mouthpiece that they do not touch the bow.
For an instrument of this price class, the processing is also fully okay!

The train trumpet is also tuned by pushing the train, as required, further or less far into the sound bow. The deeper or higher pulling of the train to change the tuning is not a serious solution (both theoretically due to pulling positions 1 and 7, but also practically impossible). Nevertheless, I am glad that the mood fits perfectly without any extension of the pipe length.

Features:
The Thomann Zugtrompete has really style and comes in terms of looks really casually; The coloring is designed in such a way that the individual components and components are clearly visible and distinguishable.

Overall Impression / Conclusion:
The Thomann Zugtrompete is in my opinion not as a toy, but very well as a full-quality and high-quality instrument to be seen. It is usable for purposes which extend beyond the use as joke articles and carnival gags! With this instrument it is possible to learn the same and to perform with it.
Of course, it is not a professional instrument but the price performance ratio is very good (remember that the 2 high-end manufacturers of such instruments in Bremen (Germany) demand exorbitant prices for their products). Among the manufacturers who produce series of turntables in series, Thomann offers the THOMANN SL 5 ZUGROMPETE an inexpensive train trumpet without any qualitative restrictions.

I personally am very satisfied with the product.

More than a spa part

Michael S. 523, 03.07.2012

For two weeks I have the SL 5 Sopranposaune, for 30 years I play Tenorposaune and has so far a Monke baroque trombone and a Conn. In our trumpet choir, the little trombone aroused a lot of attention, nobody had ever seen it.

It is not a "trumpet of trumpets", it is called ventillous trumpets, in which there is a further movable tube piece between the mouthpiece and the tube, so that the pitch can be changed by shifting the entire instrument.

On the whole, however, I can only agree with the words "deus ex machina", the production tolerances described by me, I can not confirm, with me fits the mouth cleanly into the mouthpipe, without an undesirable side air comes. Not completely clean is the water damper, because I had to use a new seal, which fits better and really airtight seals.

The approach is perfect, even for someone who is accustomed to a 7C trombone mouthpiece.

All in all, an instrument with which one can play seriously. The rash to buy it, gave me that our trumpet choir in the lower voices is disproportionately strong, in the Oberstimmen only simply occupied. If someone falls out, we are not able to play. Now I can take an overture in emergencies.
