Hardly usable

Bernhard Waack, 12.12.2010
Some cheap T.Bone microphone has already surprised me positively. This is why I dared to buy this microphone in the bundle with camera spider, windscreen and cable in the cases at an enormous price.

Actually, the bundle is rather superfluous, because already the normally supplied micro clamp can be mounted with a supplied adapter simply at the Blitzschuh of a camera. This does not look very important, but it works.
The spider keeps the EM9600 safe in its position, although the micro with its official metal housing is already quite heavy. The rubbers are very taut, which guarantees a good hold, but unfortunately counteracts the body sound decoupling rather. The EM9600 is also sensitive in this spider, even if only the camera or microcable is touched, not the micro itself.

The processing of the microphone is very neat, the case is massive and robust. The versatile inscriptions and stickers are not quite as elegant as this. The lacquered imprints use quickly, so that it looks with me a bit needed, although I have only two times in the hand
The directivity of the microphone can be adjusted between the kidneys and hypernotes. This works very well and the lowering of laterally incident sound is remarkably pronounced. So far so good.

The first weak point of the microphone is its sensitivity. Unfortunately, the part delivers comparatively few levels for a microphone of this class. The frequency response seems to me to be very centered, really high altitudes can hardly be heard on the zero axis.

The main problem, however, is the tremendously high noise that this microphone delivers. It is very noticeable and also occurs when using high-quality precursors. If you set the directional characteristic "Tele", this noise increases noticeably again and makes this microphone unusable for speech recordings from a distance of more than 10 cm. Because of its high sensitivity for hand-held noises, this microphone can hardly be pressed into the hands of a moderator ...
... in a word: the thing is hardly to be used, unless you use it at really loud sources like drums or winds so that the noise does not matter - but who needs a really narrow kidney?
It is not suitable for camera or fishing.
Too bad.

Well does not have to be expensive!

Thomas R., 08.10.2009
The EM9600 impresses with price and performance. The video journalist or camera-follower finds with the EM9600 a microphone for every sound. Quickly the microphone is ready for use. As a kidney in a loud environment, it absorbs the O-tone without problems, as the club may the interview partner also a little further away.
Everything can be changed by push-button printing. Even to silence. Due to the 1.5 Volt battery you are not dependent on 48+. The battery keeps you effortless (Duracell) 10 days, if you forget the switch off. The supplied accessories lead the Tonmann already times the micro also to use the fishing rod. Pop protection is enough! I have attached the microphone to a SonyHVR-Z1 with 48Volt and attached by foot shoe on the camera. With the headphones from Sennheiser, I control the sound, but do not buy expensive microphones more of them.
Small tip: The socket can be decoupled very easily with a Tesafilmstreifen from the Mikrogehäuse. Open the battery compartment and stick the tesa onto the silver surface. Already the annoying cable sounds are gone. For me the micro is a real discovery after 20 years of film making, the price is stunning and the quality I have already tested at 47 degrees in the SChatten. A really successful product without comparison and with a small tip significantly improved.
