I bought a beat-up ovation with non working electrics. Luckily it just needed a new piezo and this unit fitted the bill nicely. Just fitted the little jack [not supplied] to the cable, plugged it in to the preamp and away we went. Still don't like Ovation guitars but I like this piezo.

Inexpensive piezo pickup

This customer serves with me in an old classical guitar and was installed by myself. The obstruction works relatively easily, but is associated with some pitfalls:

1) For me, no instructions on the details of installation (height, ...) was included.

2) Drill a hole in the saddle pad to guide the cable inward. This should be practiced and not go wrong! It is best to use a Dremel or something similar to avoid damage to the guitar.

3) The rear saddle must be lowered by the height of the pickup, which is not always easy, especially with older, brittle bone saddles. It would be better to order a saddle and cut it so as not to destroy the original saddle.

4) The receiver itself must be soldered with an end bush, but this does not cause any difficulties. (The leg or connector that is closer to the socket opening is covered with the shielding. (Grounding) The insulated inside area comes to the "tip", ie contact at the end of the socket).

The sound of the Shadow is balanced and good, in my case I hung an Acoustic Outboard EQ between the guitar and amplifier / mixer to make small settings in terms of sound and volume and to slightly amplify the signal. (Best Artec SE-OE3 Acoustic Outboard EQ). This is how the customer works to my fullest satisfaction
