Not bad, but there are probably better units out there.

This wasn't too for the price. Knobs are a little awkward to turn as there isn't much to hold on too but works fine. A little boomy in the bass tones but transmits a decent enough sound for playing or recording. Seems to sound better using double sided tape rather than the supplied putty. Much more of an articulate sound and it has a tendency to move or fall off with the putty. Decent unit for the price.

A decent pickup
Sathiendran 15.11.2013
There is a slight hiss, when the volume is turned in full, other than that, I'm pleased with this pickup. Would like to compare with SH2001, has any one tried the SH2001 ?

It's a solution
Michael S. 639 19.10.2017
Shadow make some nice stuff that sounds great. This little PU is what it is though - a solution. The sound is... sufficient. Tone obviously isn't going to be great but what did you expect? I put it on a mandolin with some double sided tape and played several shows with it. It got the job done but I was happy to finally upgrade to a nicer Instrument which I had another higher quality Shadow PU directly installed in. If you want to be heard in the mix and need a quick and easy PU solution then this PU is fine. If you want to sound good though you'll probably want to cough up the cash and have a proper PU installed in your instrument.

Sound terrible
Alto TX10 11.04.2018
This is really unusable. Maybe for a very specific use, but to mic a guit, violin or something like that, it sounds soo boxed. Like a bucket over the guitar.
