For me, just the right thing :-)

Of course, the question is always how to set your personal focus. In the end you always move here between the main parameters:

- How loud can the box
- How deep can the box
- How Linear Works
- How heavy is the box
- fits the sound
- fits the price

My main criteria were:

Low weight, lowest usable frequency, linearity and volume. With these three criteria there is really hardly any selection - especially if the weight plays the main role and one does not like bandpasses. There are, of course, boxes - especially in this price range - which can play louder. However, these are often twice as difficult.

Unfortunately, I could never look at all the boxes I tried in the same room and in the same context. Therefore, here a limited comparison of the surely somewhat lags and perhaps "apples with pears" compares, but I try times to describe where the G sub sound moves.

Tendential, the G Sub1501 from the sound more like a 18 inch. This applies both to the depth of the bass reproduction and to the impulse behavior and is presumably due to the long-stroke chassis. The G-Sub 1501 can be relatively high separated and plays up to 140Hz relatively linear (above must be something EQ'ed if one really wants to separate it so high). This makes the subwoofer very universal and can also be used with small high / mid-range speakers.

In addition, I find the design very successful, because due to the low height, you can let the boxes disappear in the middle under the stage, which is a real advantage in monobase drive, leads to significantly less "bass holes" than with R / L setup and further wearing.

However, you have to be clear about the fact that such a setup does not work "out of the box" and you usually need something to delay and EQ'en. I currently run the G-Subs for our rock band with a second passive G-Sub 1501 as a monoblock over an aux path along with two DSR112s. The DSR / G-Sub I disconnect with the desk at 130Hz, the G-Subs run with 140Hz setting. I am very satisfied with the result. The team makes powerful pressure and is more than sufficient for our locations. For outside you will probably have a second couple. Then should be the DSR's at the latest ... ;-)

"Quiet" played the G-Sub 1501 sounds a bit similar as eg a 8004 comes however with increasing volume not to the RCF. If you are compared to an HK L Sub 2000, the boxes are similarly loud, the HK has a better impulse behavior, Seeburg can be somewhat deeper and sounds more pleasing to me.

Weightwise, however, none of the above-mentioned boxes can compete.

If you hear the G-Sub against variants of the same weight class (<30Kg) of EV, and db - which have some pretty easy candidates in a lower price class, you know why there is a price difference. The G-Sub plays here much cleaner, deeper, louder and more relaxed.

For me a long search has come to an end and I am with the selection more than satisfied - even if the fun is not quite cheap. In summary,

The G-Sub 1501

- can play loudly

- can play deeply

- can cover the whole bass range (no "Einton" bass)

- Is the lightest box in this fighting class I know.

- Cardioid setups with different separation frequencies possible

- kling "rather round than crisp" - Technofreaks may have something else.

- expensive but in the sum of the criteria quite with an allotment feature.

A little technical note: When setting the cut-off frequency on the box you have to be careful not to get the cardioid setup. When pressing the "Set" button, both normal and cardioid settings move up and down once again (ie press 12 times until you get back to the beginning). Also for the cardioid setup you can and must of course specify the separation frequency. The DSP does not shift the cardioid setup not only phase and runtime but seems to make some other tricks, which with two G-sub dp's surely fulfill their purpose. If you hear the setting alone, however, sounds - in the truest sense of the word - peculiarly oblique (like box bent and turned upside down ...)
