PU
Nice guitar with some imperfections
Pentti Uni 09.10.2026
Reviewing after a few weeks of playing. I'm not a classical guitar player but enjoy playing nylon. I have a previous Ortega TourPlayer that is a really wonderful guitar for what it is. This guitar is aimed to be more like a true acoustic nylon guitar that has an additional pickup. My first thoughts picking the guitar from the box was that it felt unofortunately "plasticy" overall with its high gloss finish. Otherwise I really enjoy the look with the pale flamed maple and the finish is not so bad when you get used to it. Included guitar bag is good.

The sound is strong and nicely resonant, it took a bit for it to acclimate to my playing and environment but I quite like it now. I also ended up changing the treble strings to nylgut for a slightly different sound and they are working nice too IMO. The 12-hole bridge is great for easy restringing. The pickup works as expected and I don't notice big differences to the Tourplayer pickup. Of course, the sound is better due to the different build. And of course, the acoustic sound is way more beautiful than the pickup, but the pickup sound is not too bad either. You can get some nice sounds with and without effects and from combining mic sound with the pickup etc. Feedback happens somewhat easily, which is to be expected if you try to go wild with amplification on an instrument like this, the phase-button on the pickup helps a bit though.

Build quality is mostly good, but there's a few small things that bother me considering the price. There's some part inside the guitar, probably from the pickup wiring that sometimes vibrates/buzzes when playing a particular note and introduces a bit of acoustic noise. There's a small part in the bottom where the veneer does not match exactly so it looks like a bit like a crack. Does not happen in the promo pictures. There's also a small piece of padding poking up unevenly from the bottom strap button. These are small things, but the Tourplayer guitar that costs half this price doesn't have any such issues so they feel out of place here too.

All in all, it's a good guitar with a nice sound and good playability in my view. The bright white look has a bit of personality for those who like it, I do. Most importantly, I enjoy really playing it. But due to the small imperfections, it does not feel like a "beautiful" guitar in the sense that the Ortega Tourplayer is for its price point and purpose.
