MXR M 81 Bass Preamp

This little box seriously upgraded my tone. The EQ is super responsive — the sweep able mids are a lifesaver for cutting through a mix without getting muddy or harsh. It’s clean, quiet, and doesn’t color your sound unless you want it to. I mostly use it as an always-on tone shaper, but the DI out is great for gigs or quick recordings. Solid build too — feels like it could survive a tour. If you want clarity and control without overcomplicating your rig, the M81 is worth every bit.

Great preamp while it works. Mine lasted 12 months and then started to cut out during gigs. I went back to using the M80, which has been more reliable.
