The music2me Piano Stickers are a learning aid designed to help beginners get started on the piano. Actually learning to read music is, in and of itself, not an easy task – and any piano beginner faces the additional challenge of finding the notes they have only recently learnt on their new instrument's keys. The music2me Piano Stickers help even beginners master this complex transfer of knowledge more quickly, because each sticker shows both the name of the note and how it's written in musical notation at a glance. And if young musicians' first steps with the piano are both less time-consuming and less frustrating, they can get started playing their first pieces more quickly, thus making it much more likely that they'll continue to enjoy playing the piano in the long run.
The sticker set consists of stickers for the white keys spanning two octaves (C4 to C6) in three versions (German, English, solmisation). Solmisation syllables – so-la-mi and so on – are still commonly used as the names for the notes in many countries, including Spain, Italy, France and Portugal. The stickers themselves are approximately 1.7cm wide, and such practically universal, so they can be easily affixed to all standard pianos, keyboards, and electric pianos using the applicator included. They will not discolour, even after intensive use, and can be easily removed at any time without leaving any residue. A small selection of easy piano pieces for beginners is provided free of charge by music2me, to help beginners practise pieces specifically within the octaves covered by the stickers.
The piano stickers from music2me are of great use not only for beginners to the piano, but also for those who haven't played their instrument in a while. Fortunately, what people learn growing up is generally deeply ingrained in their long-term memory, making it easier to refresh their skills even after a hiatus of years, or indeed decades. Getting started (again!) is made that much easier thanks to these practical piano stickers, since pianists of all levels can overcome the tedious hurdle of learning (or re-learning) to read music considerably faster, making it easier to actually begin playing real music! As we all know, the first steps are often the hardest, and learning an instrument should be as fun and intuitive as possible – a little bit of instant success will help ensure long-term motivation.
The online platform music2me was launched in 2011 by the renowned Jazz pianist Yacine Khorchi and was further developed together with professional musicians and teachers in German and English in order to change the way music enthusiasts of all ages learn an instrument without the barriers of fixed lesson times and high costs. The specially designed online courses each consist of over 250 learning videos. All learning content is conveyed in an appealing and up-to-date manner using modern technology. Together with a team of technically and musically versed employees, music2me has developed into one of the largest online learning programmes for guitar, piano and drums in the German-speaking world within the last decade.
It's quite easy to match the stickers to the appropriate keys by using a simple template, accessible online by means of a QR code. The stickers have additional markings for the black keys next to the notes. Distinguishing between the bass and treble clef is what causes most people who are starting to learn the piano the greatest difficulty at the outset: The colour-coded separation of the two clefs on the stickers makes it easier to keep track of the two systems when practising. As a learner's confidence on the keyboard increases, they can gradually remove the stickers as they come to memorise the notes in question.
