Great Beginner Analog Synth

This is a great sounding little analog synth. It is perfect for a first synth or as another tool in one's arsenal of instruments. It has everything you need to create most of the classic synth sounds that one wants an analog synth for. Plus, the the patch bay with Sample & Hold, several utilities, and a wave folder, really open up the sonic possibilities.

The only downsides are that you need to use CV to control it from an external keyboard (luckily the Arturia keystep works great for this), and the sound is not quite as crisp as on the Moog Mother 32. However, it is more portable, and about half the price of the Mother 32, so that is a plus.

Overall it's a great instrument.

Good combination with the West Pest

The Mavis is a simple but great sounding Eurorack voice, rather than a standalone synthesizer, which I suspect is the reason for the relatively low price.

I got this as a companion for my West Pest, and it works great for that, adding a ladder filter and an ADSR to the very basic, but great sounding West Pest. I wish it had a few more patch points, so you could use the filter and the VCA separately for example, but in the context of enhancing the West Pest it works perfectly.
