Mooer Soul Shiver

It is widely known that Mooer's analogue pedals are usually great and often wonderful but their digital ones much less so. This pedal requires 136 milliamps of power (I measured it) so apart from being quite a greedy pedal it may not play along side your other pedals if you daisy chain them together. I used an isolated supply and didn't have any problems with background noise. The chorus and rotary modes have this high frequency 'whoa, whoa' sweep, centred at where the modulation band would be on a flanger. Therefore, if you are looking for a chorus that sounds like a flanger pedal's idea of chorus (when you back off the resonance/feedback control) -then this effect might still be for you -I however, wasn't. Finally, the pedal when activated boosts the signal creating a volume jump (more noticable on clean sounds) and the volume control does nothing to tame this because it only mixes the already ramped up clean signal with that of the flanger-styled chorus modulation. In all I wasn't impressed and returned this pedal. Mooer's analogue chorus (Ensemble King) remains their best chorus in my opinion and this pedal didn't provide a convincing or usable rotary or vibrato sound either.

I got this unit looking for an affordable and compact way to add some character to my sound, in the form of a chorus, and what I gained in return was more that I was bargaining for.

I have this pedal hooked to one of my Carl Martin's octaswitch loops, and couldn't be happier. The stompbox delivers a fat, warm analog sound, very rich in frequencies, and it is a true bypass. It's basically a 3 in 1, since you can choose among chorus, vibrato and rotary.

The construction of the stompbox is quite rebust despite its size. The knobs and controls are simple, easy to read and understand, and they don't feel flimsy or easy to break. Again, despite of its small size you can easily tweak the volume and the intensity knobs to suit your needs. The modulation selector in the middle seems a bit more delicate than the other controls, but I've been using this heavily for over 8 months and I have not encountered any problems with it.

Something I don't particularly find useful on Mooer's in/outs is that they don't align on the chasis. In my particular experience this hasn't proven to be a useful thing to save space on the pedalboard, but again, it's a matter of taste.

I would recommend this pedal for those in a budget hunting for a great sounding tiny stompbox with chorus/vibrato capabilities.

I really wanted a Univibe pedal of some sort but didn't want to shell out the £150+ for one.

I spotted the Mooer range of pedals and thought I would give this a go.

Have to be said that I am very pleased with the sound so far running through a Blackstar Club HT40 or Bugera V5 Infinium.

I wanted the Dark Side of the Moon arpeggio sound and I must say ... I've just about got it. :)

The Mooer Soul Shiver is the perfect pedal to add a little extra sound in your chain.

It colors your tone nicely and does not interfere with other effects on my chain.

It's small compact size is perfect for any pedal board/ pedal train and is very well built.

This pedal is absolutely worth is already low price and I would recommend this to any guitar player looking to dress their tone.
