The Mooer Groove Loop GL100 is a very successful combination of a stereo looper and a drum machine in a compact stompbox format. Both functions can be used independently or at the same time, making the pedal equally suitable for practising, jamming, or capturing songwriting ideas. Musicians can record their riffs on one of the 100 memory slots, with a total of 300 minutes of recording time. Alongside that, there are more than 200 drum grooves covering eleven different styles, ranging from simple rhythm accompaniment to complete jam tracks. Features such as Auto Rec and DrumMatch help avoid timing issues when layering loops. The package is rounded off with a touchscreen display, stereo inputs and outputs, a headphone connection, and USB-C for audio imports, exports and firmware updates. Power is supplied via the 9V power supply the unit ships with.

Let's loop
Despite the extensive feature set, the Mooer GL100 is incredibly easy to use. About Mooer
Mooer is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and has been making products for guitarists since 2010, which include compact single pedals through to multi-effects units and compact amplifiers. The company initially produced a range of mini pedals before making perhaps its most significant breakthrough in 2016 with the sophisticated Ocean Machine delay pedal, which was designed in collaboration with Devin Townsend. Mooer's AI Band Technology
In including its AI Band Technology, Mooer has taken a slightly different approach with the GL100 than that offered by many traditional drum loopers. Rather than relying solely preprogrammed drum grooves that have to be selected manually, the pedal can actively analyse the incoming guitar signal and automatically adapts the accompaniment to the player's dynamics and style. The result is often surprisingly convincing drum patterns that don't require guitarists to stop playing and work thir way through endless menus or presets. For spontaneous jams or just while capturing new ideas, the experience feels noticeably more natural than using rigid, fixed drum loops. It particularly comes into its own when a groove is needed quickly, with no time to search for the right beat. As a result, the GL100 feels less like a conventional drum machine and more like a small interactive backing band.
