Automated PTZ camera with AI face tracking
The Marshall Electronics CV612-TWI is a remotely operated pan-tilt-zoom camera designed for conferencing, lecture capture, live streaming, and fixed-installation AV environments. Built around a 1/2.8-inch 2.07-megapixel HD CMOS sensor, it combines AI-based face tracking with 12x optical zoom and motorised pan-and-tilt movement for automated camera operation. Maximum output resolution is 1080p at up to 60fps. HDMI, 3G-SDI, USB 3.0, and Gigabit Ethernet outputs can all operate simultaneously, allowing the camera to feed multiple workflows at once. A two-channel 3.5mm audio input supports embedded audio across all outputs, while PoE+ operation allows video, control, audio, and power to be carried over a single network connection where the installation permits. The camera ships with an IR remote controller and a DC12V power supply.
AI tracking and low-light performance
The CV612-TWI's AI face tracking operates in two modes: single-object monocular tracking for presenter follow, or four-region tracking covering an area up to 8 metres deep – sufficient for most conference rooms and lecture theatres without repositioning the camera. The system distinguishes the primary subject from background figures, maintaining framing even when other people enter the shot – removing the need for a dedicated camera operator in single-presenter environments. Minimum illumination is rated at 0.5 Lux at F1.8, supported by 2D and 3D DNR, helping maintain image quality where lighting is uneven or difficult to control. Step motor technology keeps pan and tilt movement quiet and precise, with pan speed to 65°/sec and tilt to 35°/sec. Up to 255 preset positions can be stored and recalled via IP control, with 10 accessible directly from the supplied IR remote.
Outputs, protocols, and control
The CV612-TWI integrates into existing production infrastructure without requiring a dedicated signal chain. Over Gigabit Ethernet, it streams H.265, H.264, or MJPEG via standard broadcast protocols including SRT, RTSP, RTMP, and ONVIF, with Dante AV-H support extending compatibility to professional AV-over-IP distribution systems. USB 3.0 Type-C outputs uncompressed YUY2 up to 1080p at 60fps for direct connection to a computer as a USB camera source; USB 2.0 is also supported at lower resolutions. HDMI and 3G-SDI provide simultaneous baseband outputs for local switching or recording. Camera control is handled via RS232 using VISCA, Pelco-D, or Pelco-P with auto-detection, or via VISCA over IP and ONVIF – compatible with most professional PTZ controllers and video production switchers.
About Marshall Electronics
Marshall Electronics, Inc. has been one of the world's leading suppliers of professional audio and video technologies for TV broadcasting, corporate AV, unified communications (UCC), studio audio production and industrial OEMs for over 30 years. Their product line-up includes optical systems such as cameras and lenses, as well as control monitors and displays, AV converters and adapters, SDI amplifiers and much more. The privately held US company has its headquarters in Torrance, California, and boasts manufacturing facilities in the US, China, Japan and Korea. The group includes Marshall Broadcast & AV, Marshall Optical Systems, MXL Microphones and Mogami Cable & Connectors divisions.
Conferencing, broadcast, and fixed installations
The CV612-TWI is built for networked HD production environments where a manned camera position is impractical or unnecessary: lecture capture, corporate video conferencing, courtroom recording, government assembly rooms, and house of worship broadcast are the natural applications. The ceiling is 1080p at 60fps – operators requiring 4K output will need to look elsewhere in the Marshall range. For a single operator managing a recurring event – a weekly service, a regular board meeting, a standing lecture – the preset system and AI tracking handle the camera work once the positions are stored, leaving the operator free to manage the rest of the production.
