Despite minor weaknesses, the official headphone amp for the guitar
JochenK, 25.10.2009
The Pocket Pod is a typical device which is not necessary as a hobbyist, but one misses immediately if you own it and then does not take it. On a longer business trip and during a hospital stay, the pocket pod has always proved to me an excellent service and sweetened the idle times.

The sound is really powerful and bold, (eg "Huge Brit Gain" select and the Chorus which further turn up offers a great 80es Poser board) one should in no circumstances draw conclusions of the size the Pods on its possibilities. The headphone output has a first-class speaker simulation, no tendency to frenzy and sawing, very harmonious with distorted sounds and very crisp with clean sounds; Who has experienced the first generation of headphone amps in the 80s will appreciate this.

The sounds go from clean, crunch, board to high-gain and the effect chains are also suitable for any taste, whether discreet or over-twisted. The operation, especially the logic as important functions are placed on the few controllers is well thought-out; Even guitarists who just want to plug and play will probably have the concept soon synonymous without guidance.

For advanced editing of the sounds, you can download a PC editor for free at Line6, connect to the PC via a mini USB cable (as with many MP3 players and cameras used) and you can have a nice graphical interface Create sounds, or directly finished at Line6 download. Not quite so nice that the mini-USB socket is at the front while all other jacks are nicely juxtaposed at the back.

The battery consumption is immense, which is however a fundamental problem of digital effects, where signal processors are in it is synonymous neat current drawn, therefore, a large battery pack or the power supply, if possible.

The power supply plug (a so-called hollow plug, unfortunately now standard for power supply) tends to always wiggle, here would be a better strain relief, if you know it and it is usually not a big problem and the Pocket Pod is not a vital Part for live gigs, but a stop loop for the power cable would be the icing on the cake.

Conclusion: as an exercise amp directly on the headphones on the ears quite unrivaled, great sounds, synonymous sound-tüfteln goes well, PC editor is also there, except the jacks there is nothing to complain about the device and much to praise.

Sound paradise in handbag format!
Simon466, 31.01.2010
So something for my birthday present, the Pocket POD from Line6.
After unpacking the red devil, he came straight to the AMP (Fender Super Champ XD with Jensen Speaker). What came out sounded frightening at first. So maybe switch to the clean channel of the AMP to counteract the wrangling.

What sounded already sounded much better, with the approximately 20,000 presets at the beginning of the average guitarist but very much overburdened. To counter this, I have so directly installed the software and the device in the computer plugged. After some trial and error, I had some classic sounds, which put my Strat in a completely new light.

So soft sounds I can not elicit my amplifier and the channels with more gain can be quite hear, even if in the high-gain range, the bass are a bit weak. The way through the AMP is the little but finally not fair, so the Sennheiser headphones in the mini-jack and already sounds the whole through the speaker simulations once again much better. Incidentally, if you use a jack in the line of the sound card, the POD also works very well for audio recording.

All in all, there are only two things that bother me, on the one hand, that there seems to be no way to erase the presets and, on the other hand, that the USB cable does not power the device. In addition, bass players unfortunately can not do much with the Pocket POD, because unfortunately it does not deliver a single bass sound.

Conclusion: The thing rocks! Blues, Clean, Rock, Metal, Marshall, Fender, Mesa, Vox: You really get the sound out of the song. He also works great with my Crybaby, I have not tested other pedals yet. The Pocket POD is for anyone who likes his night bar, or likes to practice on the road, highly recommended. The price / performance ratio is pure madness, the sounds really great!
