A big disappointment
DK83 19.05.2025
After playing flats from several different brands for nearly two decades I finally bought a set of LaBella's. I play mostly funk, soul and older rock so I thought these would a perfect fit to my P-Bass. Well, they weren't.

The D- and G-strings sound really good and have never caused any issues. The same can't be said about strings E and A. The sound and sustain is duller on the A string, but at least it stays in tune. The E string is a complete mess. I've never been able to get it to stay in tune properly and after a few months of playing it sounds and looks like it's beginning to fall apart. And soundwise it is the dullest of them all.

I first thought it was the nut that was causing this issue. I changed the nut twice, but the same issue remains. I tried putting back the old (several years old) Ernie Ball flats, and... no issues whatsoever. I've also tried adjusting the truss rod and bridge to hell and back, but really, it's the string that's messed up.

So maybe I got a bad set of strings, but for 49€ (at the moment of review 59€) I expected better. For roughly the same price (or even less) you have better alternatives available like Ernie Ball and D'Addario.

La Bella 760FL Flatwound
Anonymous 20.01.2015
These are the first flat wound strings I had used and I wasn't too pleased with the sound. The strings felt floppy under my fingers and I had to heavily mute them either with the palm of my hand or a sponge to get a real thump out of them. The feel is very good under the fretting hand but I had to work hard to get a good sound. I felt they lacked longevity and after spending a good sum of money I didn't feel like I got the 'Bang for my buck', considering the reputation these stings come with.
