Great value J style bass
Souiegou 29.08.2026
A very lightweight, well-constructed J bass. Excellent ergonomics and comfortable body shape.

The highlight here is how solid the bridge is: the saddle screws are guided by a groove so that they'll always stand straight. I actually downgraded to this from the GSR200B. Why? Two reasons:
- With both pickups on equal/full volume in a JJ configuration you get hum cancelling, and that's my preferred pickup combination, whereas the J pickup introduces hum in a PJ configuration
- This is a passive bass, removing worries about 9 volt batteries dying during a gig or needing to constantly put in a fresh one. The active boost from the GSR200B felt worthless to me as well, only adding a ridiculous amount of muddying low end

Besides the hardware color and finish, this is an otherwise identical instrument. That said, the finish is very different from the images shown on the Thomann website and elsewhere. For a 'light brown (flat)' finish, mine is actually incredibly dark and the different glued together cuts of wood for the body are visible. Comes with such a low cost instrument that quality control for such things will be inconsistent. I personally don't care about this however; everything else w.r.t. playability, hardware and electronics is entirely in order, and the look gives it a unique charm.

Verdict: very good!
