Harley Benton S-620 TR Rock Series

SandyM, 14.01.2014
Have received guitar well and I must say that I am also as a long-time musician is positively surprised!
Such a guitar at a young age would have been a dream, unfortunately, I had then back on used crooked cucumbers for 200-400DM, which made me difficult my beginnings until I could allow myself something sensible!
Have 5 years ago with the music stopped and sold everything ... and now wanted me again a Klampfe to pacify ... and if she is nothing good at least as Deco!

Then it came to the unpacking ... securely packaged I brought the guitar out of the cardboard box and was immediately amazed by the optics and the first-class processing!

The Floyd-Rosestyle tremolo was adjusted by the spring tension correctly ... 1 I had to adjust the string rider for the octave cleanliness, the neck had a somewhat too strong under-bend, which I could however, thanks to the easy-going Double Action Trussrod set ... and here I see The problem with new beginners, who are not familiar with it ... a perfectly adjusted neck makes a flat string possible, and I could win a lot of the strings and handling!
It is definitely worth the setting of the guitar, if you can not do it yourself ... and with all love ... in this fight price, a company can not even hire a technician This guitar precisely adjusts ... there one must already times Yourself ran!
The mechanics work precisely and easily ... only the screws at the clamping saddle are a little difficult, but I think that is with the time.

The sound is balanced ... distorted first cream ... and clean nice bluesig, to which the pickups with loud music to too much feedback should try to grow with the pickups, and an aluminum shielding of the electronic fans ... also worthwhile for this part Everything

The neck is really what for Flitzefinger, and especially novices will have their pleasure because the strings can be easily pressed and the fingers less cramped.
The only downside for me is the 3-way switch, which is a bit wobbly and imprecise, but at the course I can buy well and gladly a better and solder in!

A superior performance ratio for me, and certainly not the last guitar from Harley Benton. (If the current in a few months is still so great)

Greeting Ralf

Usable FR guitar, despite minor quirks.

Markus_Schwalbe, 21.12.2009
I purchased the Harley Benton S-620 in June 2008, so my experience with this instrument has been valid for the last 1.5 years.

So, first to the features:
The most striking feature, and the reason why I've been interested in this guitar, is the licensed Floyd Rose Tremolo (vibrato). I personally use it most for dives, flutter effects and for vibratos (for complete chords). Unfortunately gits it to the theme FR a few prints, to which I come back with "processing". The flamed maple top (with red-transparent lacquer) is a real high-light and looks very nice in the context of the gilded & black hardware. : D
The two humbuckers give you a good base for Rock & Metal. 24 frets are ideal for solo / lead guitarists, even if you do not use all frets, it is advantageous to have some "air". The binding on the neck gives one more decisive advantage, especially with more favorable instruments: one does not need to be afraid of prominent / badly dressed frets. ;)
The neck is quite thin, and I would describe the cross-section as a narrow C.
Otherwise, there are still standard belt pins (I exchanged against security locks <- recommendable), 1 tone and 1 volume control, a 3-way switch, gilded neck-joint plate, clamp saddle and halt the mechanisms.

Sound:
Probably the most difficult part to be assessed ... So I will probably make it short: through the wood used, the sound is quite balanced. (Not too bassy, ??as with known mahogany models. And not too high as with various metal boards that are completely made of maple.) The humbuckers have a very warm sound and matte little compared to other no-name things. However, I have both replaced now.

The processing:
Well, here I have to differentiate, on the one hand, the processing of the pure instrument, such as body, neck and painting, is quite good. (Well, the Trussrod I had to adjust the neck somewhat) On the other hand, I was a little disappointed with the Tremolo. Admittedly, I knew that this is not Orig. Or Schaller Trem, nevertheless I would have expected more. After some dives it is quite fast (compared to high-quality FR) and the tremolo lever leaks out after a few months. (At least with me) After a year the tremolo began regularly (so every 1-2 weeks) kills my deep E-string. (And sometimes others) This was very annoying :( These weak points I could quite cheaply (considerably cheaper than the purchase of a higher-quality tremolos) fix, by the change of the springs (about 3-4 euros / pcs), the tremolo lever (10-15 euros) and the string rider (~ 45 euros), since I only had problems with the tremolo, my rating for the processing is still gracious.

Gasamt: Despite small quirks the S-620 is useful and for the price a real bargain ...
And since the price always plays an important role, I give the full score ... besides, it looks nice: P
