Compact two-channel guitar combo

Harley Benton's guitar amps, which come in many sizes, have long been known for their quality and bargain prices. The extremely compact HB-10G guitar combo is no exception. In addition to its pristine clean channel, a switchable overdrive channel, a full three-band EQ, and useful connection options including a headphone output and an AUX input for practising and jamming to your favourite tracks are all included at a budget-friendly price. The power cable is hardwired flush to the rear of the chassis and can be securely stowed inside the amp’s open back during transport.

Harley Benton HB-10G Guitar Combo

Robust and easy to operate

A sturdy enclosure with reinforced corners fully protects the HB-10G, whilst its four rubber feet ensure it remains stable at all times. The HB-10G’s controls are clearly laid out on the front panel: There is a gain pot to adjust the drive level, separate EQ controls for bass, mid, and treble, and of course a main volume control. Pushing the Channel Select button changes the sound from clean and clear to heavy and distorted. The tube-emulating circuit, which electronically imitates the sound and feel of a tube amp, provides a warm and authentic sound. Both the headphone output and AUX input feature 3.5mm mini-jack sockets so that standard headphones and/or MP3 players can be connected without any problems.

Universal guitar combo

Thanks to its tube-emulating circuit, the sound spectrum of the HB-10G ranges from crystal-clear and punchy on the clean channel to distorted crunch and high-gain thunder on the overdrive channel. Together, the 10-watt power stage and 6,5-inch speaker provide a surprisingly high output volume. Don’t let looks fool you: This compact open-backed combo can be used without hesitation for smaller sessions. Practice comes before gigging however – and for that the AUX input allows you to play along to your favourite tracks. And you can do so discreetly, if you so wish, using the integrated headphone output.

HB 10 G Combo Amp
Mike_Jr 17.05.2017
I use this HB 10 G Combo Amp mainly in my house and I am very pleased about it. Mostly I like the options available on it, the fact that it has a port for headphones but also a port for connecting an iPod or phone or an MP3 player.
The sound that comes from it is quite clean, it has some buzz but only at the highest gain level which not too many, I think, will use.
The HB 10 G Combo Amp is built really good and can take some ruff handling, in case it is somehow necessary. I traveled with it a lot and never had any issues even if unfortunately was bumped to surfaces sometimes.
The weight it's just 4.2 kg or 9.2 pounds and even though it seems to have a bit of weight, the weight is distributed in such a way that it is really easy to be handled by hand from one place to another.
Pros: The sound is so diverse using all the modes on the HB 10 G Combo Amp
The weight, being distributed nicely
The great variety of options available, to turn almost any sound you want on it (for a beginner)
The sturdiness being such a small, yet full of options Amp.
The Cons: Not enough options to change the sound and tone for a Pro guitar player.
Buzzing when the Amp Gain dial is turned at it's maximum level.
Overall I really like this Amp and I recommend it to any guitar beginner that I am sure will use this Amp, until will learn to play the guitar almost a t a Pro level.
I didn't try too much the MP3 function too much, but until now I have been really amazed of the possibility to use this function on such a cheap Amp and it all works great.

J
Amp for people living in a flat
JAPONfan 28.04.2020
You all heard abour "bedroom amp". Great for when you live in a house. This one is great when you live in a block and want something powerfull in sound but not louder than what your regular speakers put out. So if you plug your phone or player or computer with spotify and want to jam along - you'll get the same level you would hear when listening to the track.

B
Great bit of gear

👍 What I liked
Great value for money – For a small 10-watt combo amp it packs in more than I expected. The feature set (clean + overdrive channel, 3-band EQ, headphone/aux in) is pretty generous for the price. According to the manufacturer specs: two channels (Clean & Overdrive), 10 W output, 6.5″ custom-voiced speaker, “TEC – tube-emulating circuit”, headphone output & AUX input.

Perfect for bedroom/home practice – It’s small, light (~4.2 kg) with modest dimensions (~289 × 314 × 176 mm) so it doesn’t dominate a small room or distract the neighbours.

The headphone output and AUX/MP3 input mean you can plug in backing tracks or play late at night without disturbing others. Reviews confirm this is one of its strong suits.

Surprisingly solid build & user-friendly – Many users say the amp “feels” good for what it costs. For example:
“The HB 10 G Combo Amp is built really good and can take some ruff handling…”
Musikhaus Thomann

The controls are straightforward and intuitive – gain, volume, bass/mid/treble – so you can quickly dial in something usable.
👎 What I found less good
Limited loudness / headroom – As expected for a 10 W amp with a 6″ speaker, it doesn’t deliver big volume or “gig” level sound. It’s great for home use, but if you try to push it into rehearsal/gig territory it struggles. I personally found that when I turned up gain + volume significantly, the speaker started to show its limitations (less punch, maybe some distortion or “flatness”).
Tone & drive channel are basic – The overdrive channel is functional but not super refined. While it works for light rock/boosting, it won’t give you the richness or complexity of higher-end amps. On clean channel it’s decent, but the speaker/small size means bass is limited, and the “tube emulating” feature can only do so much. One user on Reddit said:
“Whilst I love the guitar, I’m really not a fan of the amp. The sound isn’t great to be honest, whether it be on clean or overdrive.”

Also, some users report a bit of buzzing/hiss if you crank gain.

Small speaker means limited bass & depth – The 6″ speaker size and compact cabinet mean the low-end response is modest. If you enjoy deeper tone or heavier styles that rely on fuller bass/volume, you’ll notice the difference compared to larger amps. One long-term user commented in a forum:
“the hiss coming from that thing was VERY irritating and I have sent it back…”

🎯 Who I’d recommend it to
Beginner or casual player: If you’re just starting out, practising at home, need something affordable and usable, this amp fits nicely.
Bedroom players / late night practice: The headphone out + AUX in make it practical for silent or low-volume playing.
Budget-conscious: If you have limited budget but want a functional amp rather than relying on headphones only or a modelling app.
Small space / dorm / flat living: If you need something compact and not too loud or intrusive, it works well.
💡 My verdict
If I were to give a personal summary:
As the daily home‐amp for my guitar practice, I’m quite happy with the HB-10G. It does exactly what I need: plug in, dial something usable, play clean or with light overdrive, headphone out when needed.
But if I were aiming for something more professional, with gigging capability, rich tone, really dynamic overdrive, or later recording/boosting, I’d plan to upgrade. The HB-10G is “good enough” for its category but not “great” if you push beyond its intended use.
In short: For the money I paid / as the use-case I have (home, practice, maybe small jam) it’s very good value. Just keep expectations in check: it won’t replace a 50–100 W mid-sized amp in tone, volume or depth.

The Perfect Amp for Home Practice and Portability
thezendavesta 06.06.2023
As a guitar player, I was looking for a compact and affordable amp that would allow me to practice at home without disturbing my family or neighbors. The Harley Benton HB-10G seemed like the perfect option - and I have to say, it exceeded my expectations.

Firstly, the 10 Watt power is more than enough for practicing at home or in a small rehearsal room. The sound quality is impressive, thanks to the custom-voiced speaker and TEC tube-emulating circuit. Whether I wanted a clean tone or some overdrive, the HB-10G delivered.

Speaking of overdrive, I really enjoyed the switchable overdrive channel. It allowed me to add some grit and distortion to my playing, which was perfect for rock and metal riffs. I also appreciated the 3-band EQ controls, which let me fine-tune my sound to my liking.

Another feature that I found useful was the headphone output. This meant that I could practice silently late at night without waking anyone up. The AUX input was also handy for playing along to backing tracks or songs from my phone.

The size and weight of the amp are perfect for portability, too. It's easy to carry around and doesn't take up much space in my home studio. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase of the Harley Benton HB-10G. It's an affordable and versatile amp that's perfect for practicing at home or on the go. Highly recommended!
