Vintage sound at an old-fashioned price

The Harley Benton G110 Celestion is a 1x10 guitar cabinet fitted with a Thames speaker from Celestion, a brand whose classic speakers have long been among the most widely recognised – and most widely used – in the guitar world. In this case, the Thames, with its steel frame and 8-ohm impedance, delivers a full, punchy sound with just the right touch of vintage character: It's the very successful result of Celestion's plan to maintain their classic tone while making use of modern materials and production techniques. A firm low end, a forward midrange that's just right for electric guitar, and nicely detailed highs all come together to give this speaker a genuinely classic feel. And yet, as is typical for Harley Benton, the G110 can be had for a very accessible price.

Classic looks, modern build

Finished in cream-coloured Tolex, the Harley Benton G110 Celestion has a strong vintage aesthetic straight off the bat. Under the covering, though, things are rather more modern. The cabinet is built from 18mm laminated board; while this material is sometimes dismissed as particle board, it's actually well suited to building durable speaker cabinets. And the G110 certainly is durable, with eight protective metal corners helping to keep everything safe in transit. The handle on top easily supports the cab's modest weight of around 8kg, while the four rubber feet on the base keep it on a stable footing. Up front, the Thames speaker sits securely behind a neatly fitted black grille cloth. Around the back, there's a recessed input panel, with a standard 6.35mm jack socket – clearly labelled as taking 8 ohms mono.

Compact size, substantial sound

Measuring just 440×380×235mm, the Harley Benton G110 is fairly compact. Even so, its output shouldn't be underestimated: the Celestion Thames is capable of delivering an impressive 110dB of sound pressure. Whether it's paired with a small valve amp, a solid-state amplifier, or a modeller with a power amp stage, the Thames offers a broad tonal range across all the key frequencies of a guitar signal – alongside its famously vintage character. It’s also more than capable of cutting through the mix, whether it's used for clean tones and under heavier distortion. The G110 is a closed-back cabinet, with the speaker mounted from the rear. This back panel can be removed without too much effort, which makes it easy to try out different speakers – whether out of pure curiosity or more with the aim of pushing the sound in a modern direction.

About Harley Benton

Since 1998, the Harley Benton brand has been catering for the needs of numerous guitarists and bassists. In addition to an extensive range of stringed instruments, Thomann's house brand also offers a wide choice of amplifiers, speakers, effect pedals, and other accessories. In total, the range includes over 1,500 products. Built by established names in the industry, all Harley Benton products combine quality and reliability at attractive and affordable prices. The continuous expansion of the range ensures that Harley Benton always provides new, exciting, and innovative products that keep players perfectly in tune with the musical world, day after day.

As loud as you like it!

Potential buyers shouldn't be misled by the compact size of the Harley Benton G110 Celestion. With its 30W load capacity, the Thames speaker is more than capable of covering typical band rehearsals, as well as many smaller live settings. At the same time, the Celestion G110 is immensely flexible in terms of musical style: It handles loud, high-headroom clean tones just as convincingly as heavily compressed, high-gain Metal sounds. That versatility also makes the G110 a strong option for recording. Paired with the right head, it's even possible to reach genuine power amp saturation at (reasonably) manageable volume levels. For larger stages, or when using amplifiers rated above 30 watts, stepping up to a 2x12 cabinet makes sense. Harley Benton offers just that with the G212 Celestion V30, which, of course, also comes equipped with genuine Celestion speakers.

Flawless !

Super build quality ! Speaker is OK for the price (hence the 4 stars for "sound"), but I bought this cab to put another speaker in it anyway, so.... Given the low price, it's a BARGAIN!

Great cabinets!
Charles5000 20.05.2025
I bought two to pair with my Harley Benton Custom Thunder 99 2*50W pedal amp.

They are well-made. The quality control is obvious. They sound great with my dual amp setup. I currently use a Tonex One pedal, a Chaos Audio Stratus pedal, and a Line6 POD HD500X, connected via various Saturnworks splitters and pad pedals, as my main gear.

And when I decide to build a slightly larger setup, I will most assuredly buy another pair of Harley Benton cabinets. They are so totally worth it.

Also, Thomann Music's customer service and ordering process in outstanding.

Nothing more to ask for that price :)
Plamen Petrov 28.11.2024
The cabinet is nicely built.
It has a vintage look and a good tone.
When it comes to the features, it is just a passive plug and play gear.
For that price there is nothing you can complain about.

Cheers!
