Gewa Tabla - Beginners Pair
ramaseshan, 22.11.2017
The Gewa Tablas are actually a beginners pair. The sound quality is poor and the treble drum (Dayan ; smaller and usually the right for a right hand player) is poor. The playing service is of poor quality (the Pudi). The breadth of the Chat (outer annular membrane) & Bharti (inner annular ring) of the playing service is not of a constant dimension and hence the treble drum sound between the "Na" and "Tins" are not consistent. The Bayaan {usually the left ; if a right hand player; steel bass drum) is quite a low quality and as such the depth that one expects when playing is not to a great satisfaction. The Tasma ( raw hide strap on the drum) are narrow in breadth and not of consistent thickness (thin and frail). The Gajra (Braid) is not wrapped to the same thickness.
This Tabla is not for use in concert or used in professional playing. However for beginners it is ok.
What I liked is the size of the Dayan (diameter) and hence the pitch of the tabla. If you are looking for a beginners table, then I would recommend it for practicing and to help in "polishing your hand."

Nice for the beginner but no professional
Schlagwerker, 08.10.2009
Not for nothing do the masters learn this instrument from childbones. E is not to compare with conventional hand drums, in addition to it the pieltechnik simply too differently.

With this prejudice I bought the set and was confirmed. It takes a while until the two drums have been tuned to each other, which is sure to be a part of traditional vocal mechanics. Tune with a hammer ... well. After that I succeeded, with the help of YouTube and the videos there, I began to practice the beat techniques ... look, that went quite fast.

A good co-ordination ability of the fingers is helpful ... But enough of my personal entrance (Di Na Di Di Na ... ;-) The instrument ... the processing is ok, errors are not noticeable to me, the wood is sound good Suitable to the skins traditionally with tea layer. What is missing, however, are the timbres for the depth of the two drums. I had to cut and unturn roundwood from the tree, then the tune of this drum went smoothly.

For the money a decent price-performance ratio ... so I now practice tablas and recommend this set to anyone who would also like to board.

Percussion instruments are the backbone of many traditional styles of music and are a wonderful way to add colour, texture and motion to contemporary music.
