Fryette Power Load IR

I've only used it so far as a headphone amp, so I can't comment on the recording outs (I'm sure they are up to par). I thought it sounded lacklustre in headphones until I changed the IR setting from "flat" to "edge" - which I think pushed a lot of the mids and treble to the front. It sounds fantastic to my ears now - very lifelike and responsive. If you're using it in a mix, the "Brite" and "Flat" settings might be useful, but as a solo instrument, Edge is the one.

I'm looking forward to being able to play all my high wattage heads without annoying the neighbours, and hopefully rediscovering the magic of some of them.

The I/O seems to cover everything you could need and you can load your own IRs. So far I'm satisfied with the onboard IRs - I'm not a "deep editor" once I have a few agreeable and inspiring tones I can use, and I found these in the first bank. I might explore that more in depth some other time.

Being able to play my main rig silently any time of day or night was my goal, and it definitely delivers that in spades.

This is a loadbox and impulse response loader, the most developed and most versatile on the market. Sounds great and has features that allow for loading 8 user’s IR’s, use 8 factory presets, in parallel an analog simulation as well as a full range DI sound one can later add impulse responses to in your DAW. Works really well, you can also alter the sound on the fly with some useful analog EQ tools. The only downside is that one cannot audition external IR’s on the fly as the unit needs to be powered off to load external IR’s. Friedman IRD-X has a wonderful solution for that using the editor, I am sure Fryette could come up with a similar solutions.

Es ist nicht leicht, dieses Gerät zu beurteilen. Es ist nicht gerade günstig, außerdem sind die Möglichkeiten zu vielfältig. Die allerdings, oder den Sinn darin, erkennt man erst spät.

Zunächst: nein, das ist kein übliches Powersoak, was da wäre, dass das Signal eben schwächer zur Box kommt. Also nichts für den Plexi im Wohnzimmer. Da müsste man schon tiefer in die Tasche greifen. Hier ist die Idee eine andere.

Meine Vergleichsmöglichkeiten: Mesa Boogie Cab Clone, Palmer ADIG-LB. Beide fand ich bisher ganz ok. Ich war mir aber nie richtig sicher.

Jetzt habe ich ein Gerät, das mich vergleichen lässt. Mein Ziel: den digitalen Dreck will ich nicht. Das kriege ich auch analog hin. Aber der digitale Dreck sollte der Maßstab sein. Das Gerät gestattet mir den Vergleich, die digitalen Sounds sind hier ganz ok. Außerdem kann ich sogar analoge mit digitalen Signalen zusammenmischen, was dann in einem wie auch immer gearteten Mixer passieren sollte.

Die Möglichkeiten zur Anpassung übertreffen die des Palmer ADIG.

Sound? Ach ja, Sound. Ich mag den Sound meiner Badeente. Die Amsel in meinem Garten klingt dann noch einmal besser.

Das Teil ist tatsächlich ein breaking change in Sachen Silent Recording. Nicht mehr, aber auch nicht weniger.

Après être passé par à peut près tout ce qui se fait par Load box le Fryette se démarque grandement de leur concurrent par le fait que c`est vraiment fait pour enregistrer la guitare sur un mode silencieux et non pas être raccordé à un vrai baffle et jouer à un niveaux sonore plus faible. On peut enregistrer 2 pistes en même temps ( pistes/moniteurs droite et gauche ) avec 2 types de sons un peu différents mais totalement complémentaires, ces 2 sons correspondent à 2 modes de travail de la machine dont seulement un est géré par des impulses, l`autre est proposé par une totale simulation de HP et micros soumis à une sérieuse EQ. La différence fondamentale avec les autres Load Box est que l`on sort en mode sortie micro et qu`il faut soit activer le preamp de votre interface ou connecter le Power Load à un vrai preamp ( fortement conseillé ), et la cela fait toute la différence car si vous avez un preamp de qualité le son est irréprochable, toute les autres Load Box sortent en Line out avec en amont une simulation de préamp et c`est franchement moins bon. La machine propose ces propres Impulses et il sont plus qu`exellent et fonctionnent aussi bien avec des amplis typés Marshall ou Fender. Je peux enfin enregistrer avec un son pro !!
