low E was muffled straight out of the pack

the low E string was completely dead when I strung it up.
I am a seasoned professional - I know what I'm doing. This was probably just a defective piece. I had ordered a couple of sets for my telecaster. So when I strung up the first set and found out the low E was completely dead (sounded like a rope) I removed them all and installed the second set which was fine. The tone is very nice, but it would be a bold claim to say it's much different than any other similar string, being hex, or not. QC issues though are a no-no for me so I won't be buying this model again.
