They're worth it.
I was working at Real World a while ago and mentioned that I was planning on buying a couple of AKG 414s. "You'd be much better off with Austrian Audio's version," I was told. They were right.
I've been using these mics for almost a year now, both on location and in my own studio. They are stunning, and as a Blumlein pair they deliver a beautiful stereo image. The build quality is excellent.
