Artec SE-2

just buy it! it stands toe to toe with big names popular preamps, you won't be dissapointed. boost and cut, easy instalation, all you need. it behaves musicaly so either cut or boost won't make a crazy mutant unmusical sound, everthing fits. i've tried bunch of high end gear (including fodera) and this one is the only preamp that reminds me of high class mike pope preamps found in fodera. it's just as musical, but ofc lacks some finesses of MPP.
i intended this preamps to be a first hand drop in for two ibanez basses i had without preamps. then latter i'd buy some big name preamp. boy was i suprised. all in all, both ibanez SRs (705 and 668 form '91) still have these preamps and they sound better than ever!

Great product all together.
After Soldering it into my bass it worked great. For the price they are unbeatable. The cards stick up a bit so make sure you have enough space in the cavity.
After some time I experienced an unpleasant overdrive sound on the E- and H-string. It turns out my battery only delivered 7 Volts and that did did not give the SE-2 sufficient headroom to process the signal from the mics. A new battery solved it, but only gave me 2 volts to work with. The SE-2 supports voltages from 6V - 22V so to solve this problem permanently I wired 2 9V batteries in seriell for a combined 18V. This I also belive gave me a better tone and tone control.
