Expected and unexpected traits in this case

I've had this case just short of one month now, and the quality seems to be as good as MB markets itself, and as I know from other MB cases I own. The case is reasonably light, while protective enough to be packed in a bus luggage compartment without incidents. The shell fabric is resistant enough to withstand scratches and tear and zippers and the inner paddings have a quality feel and seem to be long lasting. The outer note pocket holds sheets and books a little larger than A4 size, but can cause wrinkling since it's position is somewhat exposed, with its edges outside those of the case, and it thus can be crumpled.

I encountered two problems with the case, though. One is that the bell compartment simply is too short for some wraps. The wrap of my Conn 62H prototype with CL valves does not fit, since the wrap hits the moutpiece compartment even with the tuning slides pushed all in. That wrap may also be too deep (too "thick") for the case, making the slide and wrap to get in contact when closing the case. The other is that the slide holder has a too narrow margin for holding short slides. The fixed holder for the fitting side of the slide makes it not holding shorter slides very well. My Yamaha 421 slide has to be propped up by all the very useful velcro attached cushions and pads included, to not slip around in the holder. When properly padded, it sits really tight, but one has to be careful.

For many reasons as a useful and protective case for bass trombones with larger bells, I can sincerely recommend this case, but the prospective buyer has to look into the length and height of the wrap and the slide length of the horn intended to go into the case, since the measurement margins may or may not fit that exact horn. I wish that the manufacturer (or Thomann) could better specify the internal measurements in detail (compartment height when closed f.ex.), to facilitate comparison to all the varieties of bass trombone pipings there are today.

All in all, a really good case that I have much use for with my modded 421, but with tight margins for not suiting your horn's measurements.
