Da mir wichtig war, eine Elody zu haben, die auch wie eine Flöte aussieht, habe ich mich für die Cherry-Variante entschieden. Der Aluminiumkoffer (Leergewicht 2,6 kg, 67 x 17 x 12 cm), in dem das Instrument geliefert wird, ist mir zu schwer, zu auffällig und zu unhandlich. Die Flöte wird daher in einem Etui für eine Tenorblockflöte transportiert. Anders als herkömmliche Flöten ist ja die Elody auf der Ober- und Unterseite nur leicht gebogen. Deswegen hatte ich am Anfang einige Schwierigkeiten, die Löcher zu schließen.
Sonst ist alles super. "Unplugged" ist die Elody eine gute Altflöte. Besonders die hohen Töne sprechen sehr gut an. Wenn man das Instrument an einen Verstärker anschließt, stehen einem natürlich sehr viele Möglichkeiten der Klangmanipulation offen. Das tiefe "e" habe ich noch nicht gebraucht. Ansonsten verleitet mich die Flöte oftmals auch, einfach zu improvisieren.
