I bought it as replacement to the Zultan AJa 16" china, which was nice, but gave up after a few moths,
This new one definitely has a deeper blow, not so piercing, but pleasant trashy and musical in the same time, kind of howl.
Missing that loud and bothering brightness..
Completes very good the sound of our music(hardcore doom stoner), whereas is used as an accent, or breakdown. Sometimes I am tryng to ride it, on certain passages.
I borrow it to my drum teacher, to perform live in a metalcore act, so had a chance to listen from the public too.
And man, it copes with loud metalcore too
Only thing to complain is that it's volume is rather medium to low, but I'm paired it with loud Meinl Classics crashes, and hats.
So, in my case I have to hit it harder.
I have Q series 12" splash, too,
I'm thinking to buy more Zultan cymbals now.
The Raw, Rock Beat, Dune, Q, Dark Matter all have special ones,
which can do metal, in the right setup, I think.
