At first I was hesitant about buying this Collector edition and I have to admit that it was the Koa lid that made me pull the trigger on it. But man, the real surprise are the picks, I'm telling you.
If like me, you are interested in exploring for the best possible professional sound of your acoustic guitar then this collection of high quality picks is a great choice. It gives you the chance to try out the different materials, different gauges and even different shapes. And believe me, you will get tones that you wouldn't have gotten with other picks. I will say from the start that these are thick picks, so don't expect the usual 0.5 or 0.7mm. These are heavy (1.25-1.50), very high quality picks, made of special materials that will favor the organic wood tone of your guitar. And there are clear sound differences between them.
After a few tryouts you will find your favorites and you will know from now on what pick works best with your particular guitar, your particular style and preferences, and why not, with each song.
In the box there is even a small brochure with details and explanations that I couldn't find anywhere else, not even on their own website. There are even small EQ-like graphs with the frequency response produced by each pick category. You gotta love that!
I would totally recommend it to anyone serious about his/hers guitar sound. Besides, it's a lovely collectable. The tin box has a Koa lid and high quality leather inside (even though the color of the leather is different, much darker than the one in the pictures).
