The absolute perfect pickup set. I felt that every passive set I tried had something but lacked another but these are exactly what I was looking for, a very raw and vintage character but with the punch and dynamics of modern high gain pickups.
I've been using EMGs exclusively for the better part of the last 10 years, mainly the 81/60 and the Het Set. Absolute perfect sets in their own regard but wanted something different yet familiar to my ears. This set has just that.
There were two key things that I was looking for in this set: Number one for me being the really clear, chimey, pristine clean sounds from the neck pickup that don't get muddy and second one, when you really dig in with the bridge pickup with very chuggy riffs there's a particular punch, almost ice picky, very present in thrash that I needed while keeping the clarity of fast alternate and gallop picking and these delivered all that.
That's just talking about metal. I've also played some ZZ Top, Zeppelin, AC/DC, Skynyrd and even bluesy stuff and these don't feel of place at all. They seem to blend into whatever it is that you need to do and bring out the best in your amp.
I'm a big fan of Bill and I'm very glad I made the decision to get this set. Mojotone and him nailed it.
