The drum look nice, it's big enough, and the sound is great, at the edges the sound is more deep and powerful and in the middle more mild, it sound good and sometime very good to me. So far I don't see the use for the tunable parts, if you weaken them it barely make a sound, when you tight them it make a great sound so maybe you can go straight for the cheaper one without tunable parts, but who know maybe the tune will come in handy some day if you want this. In my chase the tunable nails come with a bit of rust, when I bring up the problem Thomann, offer me to replace it or give me some money back, but I don't do it because I like it as it is, so they have a great customer service. And an advice, if you buy this model don't tight to hard on the screw of the tunable parts they will press against the frame, and in my chase the frame crack in one corner, so the screw it's not going in, it just press against the opposite metal spot, so dont press to much.
All in all for this price this is a great drum and I would recommand it to buy it if you want something simple and cheap.

Better sounding than more expensive brands!

This is an extremely versatile drum due to its very easy to use tunable feature. Atmospheric variations are no longer an issue, just spend 30 seconds adjusting the tension (which is very easy to do) and you have an amazing sound!
You can get the perfect sound easily. I personally like a bassy thunderous sound which is easily achieved for a drum of this size.
It is lightweight so easy to drum for long periods without get arm ache, but also, don't be deceived by it's light weight as it is robust and well made.
I run a drumming circle and this is the drum I always recommend (aswell as the 22" version) simply because it sounds fantastic and, let's face it, very cheap for the quality of drum you get!

Great drum with a beautiful sound!

The drum looks very attractive and the sound is very warm and deep. I can't play it well, as I am just learning, but it gives great pleasure to hold it and to tap a few basic rhythms on it. Definitely good value for money. I am very happy with the purchase. Thank you!
