Lightweight, good sound - excellent value
AHS96 17.05.2025
I was looking specifically for a set of lightweight bongos (since I travel with a lot of gear, and mostly on public transport), so the Journey series attracted me for their light plastic shells.

Tuning them up to my desired tension is a little scary - the feel of the shells and hardware doesn't inspire a great deal of confidence in their durability at high tensions - but that being said, this has not caused any issues to date, and I'm able to tune up a nice sound.
Of course, you notice the difference in sound when compared side-by-side to professional level bongos - but as a multi-percussionist that uses bongos as part of a larger set-up, the sound they produce is more than good enough in context!
I would recommend this instrument for players of any level who want to add bongos into their existing practice. Professionally gigging Latin players (and those used to higher quality bongos) would find them lacking in projection and clarity, especially of slaps/higher sounds - but I expect that goes without saying.

In general, they sound, feel and look pretty good! The fact that they are SO lightweight can also be a big bonus for some too.
