The particular guitar it is installed on is a custom explorer built by myself and it is the only knob on the guitar, it really does make the whole thing look even more special than if using a regular knob. The finish is great and the texture actually helps you grip it when your hands get a bit sweaty, how long it will stay in this state is something I couldn't comment on as yet as it has only been installed for a couple of weeks.
