Great monitor for your digital guitar adventure

After a lot of research and reading about various solutions for my digital amp modeller (Fractal), and a lot of mumbo jumbo about "FRFR", amp in the room, etc etc, I concluded that a floor monitor like the EV unit I am reviewing here, would suit my needs.

After receipt, I experienced that it does the job perfectly for my use.
I play in a band that sometimes play in public, so for me it is important that my patches sound good trough a PA system, and not just in from of my computer.

The EV PXM-12MP is capable of playing at high volumes without any clipping or distortion, and with minimal colouring. I could indeed also have used it in the band setting, but there we are using some Behringer montors, and I rather want to keep this unit at home, so I can enjoy it whenever I want.

That being said, the weight and size of this compact and lovely monitor is not bad if you need to haul it around. For being a 12" speaker, I am sure it is difficult to make it much more compact than this.

Overall I have nothing negative to comment on this unit, it does the job perfectly and also has Aux in (with separate volume control) so you can connect your PC and playback music/backing tracks while playing your guitar.

En utilisation retour, cette enceinte fait parfaitement le boulot. Le HP coaxial y est pour beaucoup dans cette restitution. Le son est proposé suivant différents presets d'usine et chacun semble pas mal suivant l'utilisation de l'enceinte (sur pied, au sol avec un rendu flat, au sol avec un rendu réduisant un peu le bas médium lié à l'effet de sol, et un usage comme ampli guitare).
La qualité de l'amplification se reconnait. Il y a beaucoup de dynamique. On ne ressent pas de sécurité avec un compresseur ou autre garde fou. Le son est net et équilibré et surtout sans souffle.

Là ou je serais plus rude c'est que utilisée seule pour usage satellite de façade, le rendement sera bon mais la réponse dans le grave est vraiment très courte. Pour d ela voix c'est largement suffisant mais pour de la musique, un sub sera presque indispensable.

Globalement, une belle réalisation d'Electro-voice qui signe ici une vrai enceinte professionnelle pour un usage retour.

EV PXM-12MP vs Dynacord AXM12A

Ich suchte einen Monitor für mein AX8 Modeller, hatte mir vor ein paar Monaten den Dynacord AXM12A gekauft und bin extrem zufriden damit ! Dann entdeckte ich den PXM-12MP und wollte wissen ob ich den AXM12 verkaufe um den EV zu behalten.

Kurz gesagt, die beiden sind sich unglaublich ähnlich !! Features und Sound sind top ! Formfaktor und Gewicht eher klein aber wirklich groß im Klang !

Schlußendlich geht der PXM wieder zurück nicht weil er schlecht ist, sondern weil er nicht genug Gründe liefert den AXM12 zu verkaufen.
Der PXM ist mit 700W angegeben, den Unterschied konnte ich im Direktvergleich nicht hören/spüren. Für mich wirken beide gleich, Dynacord gefühlt etwas mehr Punch, aber das mag täuschen.

Hätte ich den AXM12 nicht würd ich mich für den PXM12 entscheiden. Nettes Feature gegenüber AXM12 ist die Front-LED für Peak-Anzeige. PXM hat keine Standfüße an der Seite, find ich allerdings nicht so wichtig.
