Too far from the original for my ears

I bought this thinking I could have the CR-78 sound for a fraction of the price. However in reality it sounds a bit different from the original and it doesn't make the cut for what my ears demanded. I find it sounding a big flat and uninspiring at times.

The editing is not great...I knew that before I bought it but having owned it for a few months I must say it's a deal breaker for me. You can edit only one parameter for every sound and the parameter chosen to be editable by the manufacturers doesn't match what I would've liked to edit.

I expected the kick drum to a little bit snappier (but it's too muffled), the cymbals to be less metallic.

Very cool drum machine

For those who are bored of ordinary 808/909 and even 606 sounds, that might be a finding.
The engine is super powerful (I would even say Roland TR-8 doesn't have even 1/3 of functionality that TT-78 or TT-606 has) - including clips (frequently used phrases), nuances with sync LFO, up to 64 steps per pattern, live recording, separate outputs, drum kits and 9 songs - super nice set of features.
The sound is typical CR-78 'Phil Collins and associates' alike, pretty useful for dark/cold wave as well.
The only small personal drawbacks are only paper manual and no possibility to work from batteries Device is tiny and cool to have it on the road.
And yes, manual is written very well (as lessons) and in around 1 hour of reading everything becomes clear.

Classic sounds

This is advertised as a "clone" of a vintage Roland analog drum machine. I do not own an original to do a side by side comparison, but otherwise this does sound "classic." The controls are intuitive. It is very easy to program useful patterns without reference to the user manual.

It does have many other features to use. It also has individual outputs for most of the drum sounds.

The lack of presets and no provision for battery power are the only draw back

I like it alot! If you read the manual its pretty easy to understand. Soundvise its great! Pro tip use with a eq and it sounds even better .
