Great little box -currently requires bugfix

This is a very sturdily built breakout box with one simple task: convert your SDI signal to HDMI. It has a USB-C port for power as well as to connect to a host PC (more on that in a sec) - though you can also order the converter with an external PSU - as well as an SDI out to send your signal to another SDI device further downstream such as an LCD monitor or EVF.

For such an inexpensive and small device, it adds a nice feature: you can upload a 3D LUT to allow you to monitor your image on set with a specific look, to judge exposure, gamma/contrast curves etc, which not all monitors or EVFs support. However, with the latest firmware (as of Feb 21), based on forum posts, it appears several of these units are "faulty" (hopefully solved with a bugfix) and do not display the image correctly with a LUT loaded - you simply get a completely white screen. (The current workaround is to simply disable the LUT and monitor the image as-is.)

Ich habe mir das Blackmagic Design MC SDI-HDMI 3G bestellt, nachdem ich mit meinen bisherigen (und deutlich günstigeren) Umsetzern nur noch Ärger hatte. Ich hab mich dann also für Blackmagic entschieden, da die Marke doch einen guten Ruf hat und die Produkte für Qualität stehen.
Der Versand von Thomann war wie immer raketenschnell und kaum da, hab ich den kleinen Converter direkt ausgepackt und probiert. Der Converter kommt in einer kleinen Karton-Verpackung, in die er gerade so rein passt. Aber auch nicht mehr. USB-C Kabel hatte ich genug rum liegen, weshalb ich das Gerät direkt testen konnte.
Sony PXW-X70 Kamera mit SDI Ausgang, 50m SDI SommerCable, HDMI Kabel, Elgato CamLink Pro und der MC SDI-HDMI.
Angeschlossen, eingeschaltet -> Ging. So wie sein soll.
Keine Probleme, keine Bildaussetzer. Flackerfreies Bild selbst bei 1080p60 von der Sony und 50m Bildstrecke.
Ton kommt auch einwandfrei rüber, auch wenn ich diesen für meine Anwendungszwecke nicht benötige.
Der Konverter hat mittlerweile mehrere Einsätze hinter sich. Sowohl in der Hitze und Staub, als auch unter "normalen" Studio-Bedingungen. Nie gab's Probleme, so wie man sich das eben vorstellt.

Fazit:
Der Blackmagic Design MC SDI-HDMI 3G tut genau das, was er soll. Er wandelt absolut zuverlässig SDI auf HDMI um. Und das bei so kompakter Größe, dass er mittlerweile bei mir fester Bestandteil der Kameratasche ist. Empfehlung: 10/10
