Sursprising quality

Soundquality is thick and rich in harmonics.
Not as aggressive like Neve.
Filters are very subtle. TX-button thickens the bottom somewhat.
Combine this with any microphone and you wont have to eq that much. Sounds fantastic on a saxophobe with the OVID-microphone. I have six now. I use it as a preamp for my DL16 stagebox.

Put this side by side with $1,000+ preamps. 50/50, you’ll like this one as much, maybe better.

The tunable low pass and high pass, plus the transformer to switch up the color on demand make it exceptionally flexible. I own two. I’d be happy to have a full rack of them.

Der Preamp liefert ein sehr sauberes Signal auch für pegelschwächere Mikrofone wie dem Shure SM7B oder einem Beyerdynamic M160. Durch den gerasterten Input Gain Regler lässt sich der Input-Level gut wiederholbar einstellen. Wenn der Output Regler in der Mitte einrasten würde, wäre ich noch glücklicher damit.

Inzwischen habe ich drei davon und alle Module funktionierten auf Anhieb ohne Probleme was für eine gute Verarbeitungsqualität und Qualitätssicherung spricht. Ich hatte da mit anderen Preamp Modulen wie einem Camden 500 schon andere Erfahrungen gemacht. Diese habe ich inzwischen verkauft. Meiner Meinung nach steht dieser Preamp wesentlich teureren Modellen in nichts nach.

Ein echt großes Highlight ist das sehr gute Metering. Das Design ist zwar optisch gewöhnungsbedürftig aber funktional besser als bei jedem anderen 500er Preamp den ich besitze (Liste unten).

Da ich auch ein Midas Rack habe, ist der zusätzlich schaltbare Output wirklich genial um ein Signal dry und eines processed parallel zu recorden.

Den sehr flexiblen High Pass Filter finde ich klasse. Low Pass konnte ich bisher noch nicht so recht brauchen - aber ist ja nicht schlimm wenn man die Option hat. Wer weiß, irgendwann ists dann doch mal sinnvoll.

Ich möchte die Teile nicht mehr missen und sie stehen in meinem Rack ebenbürtig neben Preamps von SSL (VHD & SIX), Heritage Audio (73JR) und Lindell Audio (6X-500).
