Well worth the Black Panther title!

I was intrigued by this snare and as it matches my Mapex Saturn V natural burl kit, so I decided to get it.
This is not my first Black Panther, I have a few of them but I think that this one is a special one. The birch/walnut combination results in the nice attack of birch but still darker sounding than the typical all birch snare. It can handle most tunings very well and sounds deeper than the 5.5 inches it is. It kind of reminds me of the original Versatus snare.
A great all-rounder snare in my opinion, and superbly finished, I am glad that Mapex uses birch wood more and more. I have made it my main snare for the time being. Well worth the Black Panther title, and for the price, it seems hard to beat!

Gute Snare

Felle: Das war ein Kaufargument für mich, dass in der Preisklasse da schon Remo Ambassador drauf sind und der Fellwechsel erst mal nicht ansteht.

Sound: Ich würde sagen ziemlich viel Ton und ein Tiefmittenbauch, druckvoll, nicht allzu crispe Höhen. (Nachtrag. nach ein paar Wochen Spielzeit: der Stimmumfang ist etwas eingeschränkt, bei hohem Tuning klingt sie pappig, weil die Höhen fehlen. Bei tieferem Tuning kommt eine Resonanz zum tragen, die mich stört. Im mittleren Tuning kriege ich aber ein für mich zufriedenstellendes Ergebnis hin - da zeigt sich doch der Klassenunterschied zu teureren Snaredrums????). Nach etwas Stimmarbeit und mit Dämpfungsring kriege ich einen Sound hin, der sich gut in mein Set einfügt. Am Ende kein Punktabzug für mich.

Verarbeitung: Hervorragend. Besonders gefällt mir die solide Snareabhebung, die sich beidseitig spannen und mittig zentrieren lässt. Alles wirkt sehr hochwertig und präzise. Auch toll die versetzten Spannböckchen und 10 Stimmschrauben. Ale Schrauben bewegen sich glatt. Auch auf der Innenseite schönes Holz und sauber gearbeitet.

Optik: Das ist ein kleines Kunstwerk! Die wunderschöne Holzmaserung, die dunkle Verchromung, die Embleme. Alles in Kombination mit der gediegenen Verarbeitung. Richtig schön. Hinter dem Set versteckt sie sich dann etwas unscheinbar, weil sie farblich dezent ist.

Verpackung: Sensationell, wie beschrieben: im kuscheligen Samtbeutel, in einer Plastikfolie, im Karton, im Karton, im Karton und im Karton geliefert. Nach dem Auspacken ist alles vorkonfiguriert, die feinen Einstellungen und das Tuning muss man dann noch durchführen. Ein guter Stimmschlüssel liegt auch bei.
