better than most 73 offerings

This preamp is a very worthy vintage 73 style unit. I've just been through a wormhole of buying, testing and returning 73 clones (3 units in total in the past 6 months, including the current "official" two-channel one), they were all either beautiful sounding but too noisy or just cramped sounding, a little bit "nasal" and tending to distort.

All this changed when I decided to A/B the last one (the "official") against my 73 jr2 that I've had for a while. The heritage offering just incredibly had more headroom, less noise for a similar amount of transformer saturation, and sounded in general more open. Me and the singer singing through both of them instantly prefered the Heritage over the other one, so in my quest for 2 channels of 1073 style pres I just bought a second one...

Granted, if you factor in the price of the rack and the unit's price it's not a cheap stereo pair you're getting, but after a while and several recordings, this unit keeps finding its way into my records.

if you want that vintage neve 1073 sound, this would be by far your best option. great preamp with that typical vintage sound. gives you a lot of options with the pad/hi pass filter/output know/phase button/...
I use this one mainly on vocals, and it compliments my akg c414II greatly

Bester 1073 Preamp

Da mir der Sound des Neve 1073 gefällt, habe ich mehrere Modelle verglichen (GA Premier Pre-73, Neve 1073N, Universal Audio Unison Preamp und eben den Heritage Audio 73 Jr. II).

Nutzung für Vocals, teilweise mit Neumann TLM49, teilweise mit SM7B. Für meine Stimme liefert der Heritage Audio das beste Resultat. Ausgewogen, mit guter Wärme aber gleichzeitig charakterstark. Ähnlich bewerte ich den GA Premier, welcher generell ein wenig "verzerrter" und weniger lieblich (nennens wir mal "Magie") wirkte. Neve 1073 war mir zu harsch, Unison Preamps sind solide, hinken jedoch im Vergleich immer hinten drein. Alle persönlichen Eindrücke vorbehältlich der Fähigkeit mit dem Signal dann umzugehen ;-)

Excellent Produit

Je recherchais un pre ampli micro pour de la production de voix en studio, homme, femme, voix claire mais aussi saturées.

J'ai préalablement testé les pré ampli AMS Neve DPA ainsi que le Heritage Audio DMA avant de tester leurs versions respectives 1073LB et 73 JR II au format 500.

Le HA73 JR II est un excellent produit, avec un ensemble de caratéristiques interessantes tel que le PAD ou encore le coupe bas que le 1073LB ne dispose pas.
La qualité de fabrication est au rendez-vous, les finitions semblent bonnes.
Néanmoins la qualité des boutons me laisse à penser que la durée de vie sera moindre par rapport au Neve 1073LB.

La couleur sonore du HA73 JR II se situe quelques part entre un Neve et un API.
Pas aussi « agile » qu'un API mais pas aussi « lourd » qu'un Neve.
Une identité propre.
