Waveform Processor

The A-116 module provides voltage-controlled, dynamic waveform modification of audio signals. It can produce new waveforms from the standard, basic forms; with such changes also having the option of being modulated.

Bought this as my first waveform processing module for my very minimalist (read a beginner) modular synth. Used with the A-110 VCO a mixer for the sine & tri waves into the Wasp filter the amount of sound variation is amazing - everything from growling to almost ring modulation. Highly recommended especially at the price.

Erstmal kann man damit Audio-Signale, etwa Drum Sounds u.Ä., sehr gut saturieren ohne dass es wirklich distorted klingt, was sound-technisch einfach sehr wertvoll. Als Techno-Freak begrüsse ich es total wie man damit die Attack der Bassdrum sehr konkret betonen, steuern kann (Das kann kein Paramter auf der DrumMachine).
Desweiteren (und das ist die eigentliche Funktion) kann man Synth Sounds total verformen: OSC1 dadurch, einer der beiden Parameter nach Geschmack einstellen, den anderen Parameter mit OSC2 ansteuern. Der Sound wird total geil verformt wobei das Resultat meistens nicht zu schräg und sehr brauchbar ist. Man muss aber ein wenig mit den Parametern und den Soundquellen rumprobieren. Oft klingt es danach nicht mehr nur nach einem OSC sondern nach viel mehr. Hammer!
Ich glaube das Gerät ist so wenig beliebt weil die Meisten den Saturations-Vorteil unterbewerten und nie wirklich probiert haben etwas damit zu erzielen. Dabei steht die oben beschriebene Vorgehensweise genau so im Manual.
Darüber hinaus kann das Modul auch benutzt werden um SteuerSignale wie LFOs konkret zu manipulieren.
