Blackstar Live Logic

Robust, versatile and easy to use! I guess that can describe pretty much the Blackstar Live Logic MIDI controller. It is not "totally" compact but its very versatile, with robust and stable metal housing and it includes the software controller to assign midi program changes, banks and presets. I personally love the fact one can connect an expression pedal to control software plugins, for example, to be able to control a wha pedal plugin via the Blackstar Live Logic MIDI controller.

I bought it as a foot controller for Ableton live. Select scenes, stop scenes and for flexible use in projects. It does were I bought it for but it would be better if it was more flexible. as a controller for Ableton it has to be set in custom mode. You have the 6 foot control buttons and 2 expression pedal connections. which are totally programmable. It would be match more flexible if you could use the bank up and down on 5 and 6 to scroll true your custom presets. I have to say I'm not a midi wizard. Build quality is very good, solid, strong and nice design.

es ist zwei modi: patch und custom.
patch modus ist voreingestellt und in stein gemeißelt. button 1-4 senden program change messages und 5+6 bank up und down.
custom mode erlaubt einem den buttons individuelle midi messages z.b. cc, note, programm change zuzuweisen.
ACHTUNG: der haken an der sache ist aber, dass im custom modus nur alle 6 schalter programmiert werden können. das bank-feature geht also komplett flöten, sobald man seine eigenen einstellungen vornehmen möchte. ziemlich frech finde ich, dass das nirgends explizit erwähnt wurde. auch die werbung für "plug and play mit ableton" ist vor dem hintergrund ganz schön daneben. denn was man bei ableton bekommt, ist ein unveränderbares preset oder lediglich 6 individuell zuweisbare midi signale. dazu mehr:
ABLETON: als fast einziger fußcontroller der plug and play mit ableton funktionieren soll, hab ich mich total darauf gefreut. im patch modus funktioniert er auch direkt, leider nur mit der voreingestellten benutzeroberfläche. die ist für live looping mit 6 tracks optimiert. aber nicht modifizierbar.
lässt man die voreingestellte benutzeroberfläche im ableton menü weg, empfängt ableton zwar die signale so, dass man sie individuell mappen könnte, ABER.. es sind programm change messages und damit un-map-bar.
um also irgendwie individuelle mappings vorzunehmen muss man in den custom mode wechseln -> im blackstar programm die signale auf notes oder cc EINZELN!! ändern und hat letztlich NUR 6 buttons.
->banks sind also mit ableton GAR NICHT möglich. wahl zwischen: 6 individuellen button oder voreingestelltem live looping

FAZIT:
schade drum. hätte richtig geil werden können, aber ohne custom banks bricht das einzige feature was ihn von anderen controllern abhebt leider weg. toll wär neben custom banks auch die funktion, die angeschlossenen exp-pedals in die banks zu integrieren, sodass man auf jeder bank 2 map-bare pedals hat.
ich hab mir jetzt den fcb1010 mit etwas mühe eingerichtet. zwar kein plug and play und mit den programmen von 2007 war es ein act den controller für ableton vorzubereiten, aber dafür hab ich 10x (10 buttons + 2 exp)
