New to the duduk

As someone completely new to the Duduk, I had been warned about the poor quality souvenier instruments, and the importance of going through a reputable supplier. I had very positive experience with Thomann previously and so decided to use them to purchase my first duduk. The first thing that struck me was the beauty of the object itself, the careful carving, smooth finish, and the engraved maker’s mark. While I am only making the most primitive of sounds at present (week 1), I can already hear the depth of tone that this instrument offers, and I am looking forward to what people call the ‘Duduk journey’. A final positive shout-out to Thomann’s customer service team, who are the best i’ve encountered in the industry through the online chat. They helped redirect the instrument delivery to a different address and were patient and courteous at all times. I would certainly shop with Thomann again.

Nothing to say about the Duduk... Quality wood, amazing sound. Love it. I would just like to make a suggestion... Such a duduk should be sold with a case.. Its a shame it comes with no case... Just wrapped in paper... I once ordered a plastic flute for 11 euro and it came with a plastic case...

Ich finde es einfach klasse, dass Thomann Instrumente anbietet, die nicht so gängig sind und es in den letzten Jahren immer mehr auch etwas ungewöhnliche Instrumente dazugekommen sind. Dies unterscheidet Thomann von vielen anderen Shops, finde ich. Danke dafür!

Diese Duduk ist ein wunderbares Instrument. Ich habe es auf YouTube entdeckt und war sofort verzaubert.
Die Verarbeitung ist tadellos.

Wenn man sich wie ich das Spielen verschiedener Instrumente selbst beibringt, ist man auf gutes Lehrmaterial und Tutorials angewiesen. Wenn man sich auch das Spielen der Duduk selbst beibringen möchte, sollte man eventuell vorher wissen, dass es meiner Kenntnis nur ein oder zwei Lehrbücher hierzu gibt, die zudem aus meiner Sicht nicht zu den hilfreichsten gehören, da notwendige Erläuterungen fehlen.

Zu Beginn erforderte es Geduld und einige Hilfestellungen im Internet, um dem Instrument überhaupt erst einmal Töne entlocken zu können. Ich finde, es erfordert sehr viel Puste, obwohl ich durch das Spielen mehrerer Blasinstrumente wie Trompete, Flöte, Hümmelchen usw. schon ganz gut trainiert bin. Aber vielleicht habe ich auch einfach noch nicht die richtige Technik raus.

Super Instrument, bei dem das Wichtigste leider nicht überzeugt

Verarbeitung, Aussehen, Haptik, Bespielbarkeit, Tonqualität sind alles einwandfrei und auf sehr hohem Niveau! Tolles Holz, stehende Jahre, perfektes (!) Oberflächenfinish, schöner warmer Klang, wie man das von einem Duduk erwartet.

Der einzige Haken und Grund, warum ich das Instrument dennoch zurückgesendet habe: die Intonation ist unzureichend. Innerhalb der Oktave von A3 bis A4 (Tonumfang F#3 bis A4 ohne Überblasen) gibt es eine Abweichung von mehr als 50 Cent. Wenn das A3 richtig intoniert wird (Anpassung des Mundstück, Lippenpressdruck etc., dann spielt man auf dem A4 schon fast ein A#4. Hinzu kommt, dass die Abweichung nach oben nicht konstant ist; so ist zwischen C#3 und D3 ein Sprung von fast einem Ganzton, man spielt also mehr ein D#3 als ein gewolltest D3, beim E3 und F#3 passt es wieder mehr oder weniger (+20 Cent), das G#3 auf dem Daumen ist dann aber wieder fast ein A3.

Da ich das von meinem anderen Duduks (GGA) deutlich besser kenne, geht dieses leider zurück, auch wenn die Verarbeitung und der Gesamteindruck besser ist als bei dem von GGA. Aber eine richtige Intonierung ist für mich ganz entscheidend, ich will nicht erst ewig mit Tricks die richtige Tonhöhe suchen müssen, vor allem wenn man sich dann beim Wechseln von einem anderen Duduk immer erst umstellen muss.
