Pretty useless

I bought this Flexarm along with a Manfrotto clip to hold a small flag in front of a light. I chose the Flexarm as I thought it would enable me to move the flag accurately in front of the light giving me greater control of my flagging. How wrong I was.
First off the Flexarm is heavy. I thought that would make it strong. No it does not, this arm does not hold position. It is a terrible piece of design. It has a spigot one end and the hex spigot the other. In theory the hex works well with a super clamp. But it won't fit into the end of a boom arm. So yes I use the other end which is a spigot. That leaves me with the hex end that pretty much doesn't fit anything else except a super clamp. I'm sure it will find it's use one day but as it is, it's an annoying, heavy, useless, poorly designed bendy bar that doesn't bend and hold fast like I was told it would.

Geplanter Einsatzzweck: Mikrofon an Rednerpulten platzieren, an denen andere Schwanenhälse keinen Platz finden oder sich nicht so gut befestigen lassen.
Die Kombination aus Superclamp dem Flexarm ist optimal - nur der zusätzlich zu beschaffende, erforderliche Adapter auf 3/8 ärgerte mich etwas.

Anfangs wunderte ich mich, dass es in Deutschland im Vertrieb offenbar nur die HD-Variante gibt, das erschien mir doch etwas übertrieben. Mittlerweile empfinde ich das nicht mehr als so nachteilig.

Getestet habe ich es mit einem 360 Gramm schweren Røde M3 in "Redner am Pult-Position", also zweifach geschwungen und verdreht (seitlich und nach vorne). Auch nach 24 Stunden asymmetrischer und nicht zentrischer Belastung weist der Flexarm immer noch die erforderliche Stabilität und Steifheit auf, ist aber zugleich flexibel genug, um leicht auf andere Redner eingestellt zu werden.

Damit hat sich jede Schrauberei an Mikrofonstativen erledigt - ran an den mobilen Sprecherplatz und fertig ist die Laube.
Das ist vor allem in Zeiten, in denen sich praktisch jeder Dozent hinter einem Laptop versteckt, ein unschlagbarer Vorteil gegenüber einem Stativ oder zentriert angebrachten, meist zu kurzen Schwanenhälsen.

Wer situationsbedingt eine Entkopplung vom Sprechertisch braucht, klemmt die Superclamp eben an ein nebendran stehendes Mikrofonstativ - der Flexarm macht praktisch alles mit und erreicht doch sein Ziel.

Von daher: Volle Punktzahl und klare Empfehlung - ein Zubehör zur Superclamp, das ich gerade deshalb nicht missen will, weil es nicht so starr ist. Da trage ich auch das etwas höhere Gewicht gerne, denn es lohnt sich für mich.
