Harley Benton Amarok-7 BKRD Quilted Burst

Ho scelto questo modello per due motivi: un' estensione più bassa per poter effettuare power chords più bassi e la finitura del body rossa e nera, molto bella.

Ero indeciso tra una 6 corde accordata in C Standard oppure una 7 corde. La mia scelta è ricaduta su questa Amarok, principalmente per non dover usare una scalatura più grande su una 6 corde.

Pro
- Manico sottile con Neck-thru body, nonostante il capotasto più largo la differenza non è cosi marcata da una Strat (42mm capotasto)
- Hardware di qualità: meccaniche bloccanti e robuste e ponte hard tail.
- Pickup EMG Retro Active: funzionano anche senza la batteria, con un output molto più basso. Si riescono a ottenere buoni suoni puliti che distorti. Sono silenziosi e non emettono i fruscii tipici dei single coil.
- Stessa scala di una Strat: Abituarsi a questa chitarra è stato facile in quanto la tensione delle corde è la stessa di una strat. Le uniche differenze sono la settima corda e il ponte hard tail.

Contro
- Alcuni segni di lavorazione vicino al capotasto. Ho trovato due graffi sul lato della tastiera al primo tasto, vicino al capotasto.
- La cover posteriore con il selettore e i potenziometri. Non mi è stato possibile rimuoverla per controllare l'elettronica, neanche usando dei plettri.
- Nessuna verniciatura lucida sul body: questo non è un contro in se ma se la chitarra urta da qualche parte è probabile che rimarrà il solco.

E' una chitarra usabilissima ma perde qualcosa nei dettagli.
Un po' più di attenzione durante la lavorazione sarebbe stato apprezzato, soprattutto perché non si tratta di uno strumento entry-level.

Overall you can't go wrong with this one unless you really can't stand emgs and you expect no finish flaws at all.

Guitar is beautiful. Period.
You can crank up really nice tones from it.
Surprisingly the pickups work even without the battery.
Output is lower as you expect and the tone is somewhat different - not worst/better, different.

Cons.
Mine came with some fretboard and nut finish issues.
If you wouldn't look close enough you wouldn't notice.

Some tooling marks on the side and wood imperfections on two of the frets.
The nut is cut poorly and too deep. Doesn't impact intonation on mine, just a visual thing.
Overall, not enough to send it back, but it's there.

The guitar is NOT set-upped right out of the box. Mine wasn't.
Rod, action, intonation, WAY off.
Like done by somebody that didn't know what he was doing or not at all.
There is some neck-dive on this model as the neck is heavy and because of the top strap holder's (what is the name?) position.

Would I buy it again? F. Yes.
Guitar is stunning with some imperfections.
Buy it, but take a close look when it arrives.

This has the finish and spec of a much more expensive guitar. I haven't had time to get used to playing a 7 string yet so it's hard to comment on playability, but so far it feels fine. Sounds good too, with excellent sustain. Does it djent? Yes it does. It also arrived very well set up, can't fault the action or intonation. The only minor criticism is that the strings weren't in the best condition, but I nearly always put new strings on a new guitar anyway so not much of a problem.
