Modular Drum Machine

If you want to create drum patterns on a modular synth this is the device you need. Using the standard A-155 analogue/trigger sequencers will typically restrict you to 8 steps of four percussion instruments. Just 8 steps is really insufficient for rhythm pattern programming. This module puts 8 channels of 16 steps into 52 HP so takes up less space than the A-155 too.

The dedicated button and LED for every point on the 16 x 8 matrix is what makes this unit special. It provides a very direct connection to the pattern structure that gives makes composing rhythms quick and fun.

I have deducted a point for handling as we had to read the manual to make any sense of the control interface. It's not intuitive but is perfectly usable once the reading is done. It will be interesting to see what feature enhancements are in the next software update but it's fine to use as it is now.

If you want to compose patterns on your euro modular rig this module is the perfect weapon.

mine had very old broken firmware

Cool and very easy to use, but it was impossible to save or load settings/patterns...
I had google and update firmware to fix (lastest is from 2016!). Updater only works on windows and you need printer type USB cable. It seems to work fine now, but still there are some unfixed issues even on doepfer page.

Nice small trigger sequencer with potential

This long awaited trigger sequencer is straight forward to use, like the TR style programming but with extra features.
Good for drum,filter pinging,clocktrigger,switching.....
The software isn't finished, some small bugs and not all functions given on the frontpanel are working.
Doepfer talks about a future software update in the quickstart manual online.
So this thing really got potential, in the meantime a little workaround but so easy to use that I already have two of them.
So not five stars but really worth trying.
