Bought this guitar for my daughter who started her guitar lessons. Compared the sound with other low priced guitars, I think this is the best guitar to start with and it will be for some coming years. Highly recommendable.

Perfect price/performance

For the price, it's great.
It sounds like a classical guitar and plays like one.
It's a great choice for first time acoustic guitar owners, although if you are serious about classical guitar you will want a more expensive model.

Sound:
The sound is of course not perfect and will not hold up against more expensive guitars, but it still sounds good.
Fretbuzz as stated in other reviews is not present for me. The action is reasonably high and the strings do not buzz even when slammed with a pick.

Quality:
It smells like a nail salon for the first few weeks...

At this price, it's very good

Insane that you can get such a guitar at this price

Unbelievable value what you pay for, the craftsmanship is amazing, the finish is stunning, the rosewood fretboard is smooth as silk, the tuners feel meh but it holds the tuning really well. If I were to have any complaints i guess is that frets 4 and 5 buzz sometimes on the lower strings, and that the action is a little high for my taste, but both of these are easily fixable anyway.

Best Guitar to start with

From the beginning I was afraid of the brand Yamaha thinking let them make bikes instead of musical instruments but that was my superstition and it changed when I started to know the guitars Yamaha closer, the great attention to detail, even in the budget segment, it's just perfect no more no less C series it's straightforward as a pencil and if you're in doubt where to start or these Yamaha are good though, yes they are, I picked one for my nephew as a first guitar

great for beginners

I would recommend this beautiful piece for those who starting to learn how to play from the beginning
without exaggeration, it is a very nice guitar I loved also the color I bought it one year ago and still looks brand new...

Good budget classical guitar

Haven't had to do any adjustments or send it to the luthier. Has good playability and sound out of the box. Perfect for beginners.

Yamaha C40

I've been playing guitar for years and I've tried Yamaha guitars acoustics in the music shops and was impressed by the resonance, quality and price. Recently my decision was to learn classical and flamenco, so I tried some nylon string classicals in shop; same impression I had when it came to Yamaha classical, resonance, quality of workmanship and woods used by the luthiers in its making and then the price not to be sneered at.
Then I shopped around and I saw Thomas Mann have Yamaha C40s (a great guitar for beginners or professionals alike) so I made my order with Thomas Mann. Shipping and packaging was quick no damage or marks and genuine satisfaction playing this remarkable Yamaha classic achieved.
